Speaker 1:

Hello pet enthusiasts, Welcome to the global show Pet Chat. My name is Jason Zukowski. I'm the dog dad of Bunsen, Beaker and Bernoulli and the cat dad to Ginger, the science animals of social media.

Speaker 2:

My co-host with the mostest is Hi there, I'm Chris Sikowski and I am the co-host of this show. This show is called Pet Chat and I am the dog mom of Bunsen and Beaker and Bernoulli and the cat mom to Ginger.

Speaker 1:

So if you're just tuning in and you had never been to Pet Chat before, chris and I highlight a couple of our favorite stories with the animals and then we allow we answer questions. So I'm seeing people type in questions, I see your questions, thank you, and or if you have a story, you can type your story in and we'll highlight your story and if you're listening on like spaces on twitter, you can actually be part of the conversation with audio, which is cool, so we have a little bit of a community sharing. Okay, so let's talk about the big stories of the week with the dogs and the cat. My story is going to be about Bernoulli, and I've been taking the dogs, when I can, on longer walks now that Bernoulli is a bit older, so we've been doing a shorter loop just because he's a puppy and it's too far for him to go when he was little. Plus, I don't really know if the further I stray from the house, the less I know about the terrain and the animals that might be living there. I'm pretty certain I know what the animals are around the path that we take, but the further I go it's unknown. So I didn't want to take a puppy where we might run into a coyote, like what happened with beaker when she was little.

Speaker 1:

But now bernoulli is enormous. He is way bigger than any coyote will ever be. He's huge. So I've been taking him on longer walks and he just runs with so much glee and joy, just like bunsen and beaker do on these adventures. We go on and bunsen he does his own thing. He's more, he goes further away and scouts out, which is for most likes yeah, for for carrion, but also that was what saved Beaker's life was he was like like scouting out the terrain when that coyote incident happened.

Speaker 1:

And then Bernoulli runs around and then all of a sudden stops and looks around and realizes he has no idea where he is. If he runs really fast and I'm still within like very short walking distance but he'll get in the middle of where beaker, bunsen and I are and he'll be so puzzled he'll stop and he'll. It's like gandalf in the, the minds of moria I have no recollection of this place and he looks back and forth and then he'll see somebody me Bernoulli, or me Bunsen, or Beaker and get a great big smile on his face. He's like I know where I am. There's the person I know, and then he'll run over to them.

Speaker 1:

But it is pretty cute that he is aware enough that he is lost and he has made a mistake. He has run too quickly in the wrong direction and all the people and everything he knows is gone. We always rescue him, but it was just really cute this week to see that it happened a couple of times on the longer walks. And no weird wildlife, though, chris. No legs. Bunsen again hasn't found any moose legs in the last little while, so he looks every day. That's my story Over to you, chris.

Speaker 2:

I have a bunch of stories. You have a bunch of stories.

Speaker 1:

People love a bunch of stories. Okay, go ahead.

Speaker 2:

It's my long story long.

Speaker 1:

Yep.

Speaker 2:

And then I can intertwine all my story. So today was a great day, but my story is also about Bernoulli, because I took Jason, had a podcast interview, so I took Bernoulli myself to Waggles and he couldn't go last week because he was abscessing newly. But this week he was able to go and there were a lot of dogs, like so many dogs, and he was so excited to go that he was so well behaved going into the yard and it was awesome. Right when we got there, his little friend mandy. She's a cream golden retriever. She was in puppy class with him. She came over to the gate and was all saying hello to him and so he was so happy to see mandy.

Speaker 2:

And then some other friends of his came running up and of course then Chloe's Chloe was there. Chloe is another golden retriever and I was like hi, chloe. And I said Hello and then I was like oh, I guess I should say hi to you, which is the Chloe's mom. It's funny how we all just talk to the dogs and then the adults are just secondary yeah maybe.

Speaker 2:

Yeah, it was funny, we had a good laugh about that, but what happened was, at the end, char that's the owner of waggles, the most amazing char she came over and she said did alicia tell you the funniest story? And I said no. What happened?

Speaker 1:

oh, this is so good, everybody, this is so good so'm like no, I didn't hear what she said.

Speaker 2:

It was so funny. So, Bernoulli, he goes to Waggles for doggy daycare and he was in the field and he was just sitting there contemplating life like he does, he does just sit there.

Speaker 1:

sit there and think deep Bernoulli thoughts. It's hilarious. On the hill He'll go up there and sometimes he'll stand majestically and other times he'll just sit Winnie the Pooh and just like who knows what he's doing. He's just thinking Go ahead, chris, sorry.

Speaker 2:

He's just thinking. So he was sitting there contemplating life and Alicia went up behind him and she said trust fall. And he looked up and he went like this. And then he went like this and he did a trust fall into Alicia's arms and she was shocked. So she looked around Did you teach him that? Did you teach him that to the other trainers? And no one had taught him that. And then he sat in front of Char today oh, he loves her and he sat in front of her today. And then she's like trust fall. And he did it.

Speaker 1:

He did it. He did it. It's so cute. It's so cute his trust fall. We'll have to get it on camera. He wasn't. I think he doesn't need.

Speaker 2:

The other dogs are distracting around him, so we'll try it hey and also I think he's not going to do it on the tile too slippery I think it has to be outside or on our lovely carpet.

Speaker 2:

Yeah, but then another compliment that bernoulli got today from char was he was playing with nala, who's a Rottweiler, and Nala goes to doggy daycare and Bernoulli matches her energy right when she plays, so they play with a higher amount of energy. And then she said to me she says Bernoulli knows how to play Rottweiler, he knows how to play doodle, he knows how to play German Shepherd, he knows how to play doodle, he knows how to play German shepherd, he just knows how to play with other dogs, and so he's very versatile.

Speaker 1:

He likes the little dogs too. Pardon.

Speaker 2:

He likes the little dogs. There too, the little ones fence. So willow was also in a play class with us and he was looking at little willow across the fence because they keep the dog separated based on if they're a puppy, if they're a small dog or if they're a large dog.

Speaker 1:

And, yeah, sure enough, he was like oh, there's my little friends over there it's not safe for them, obviously, to play when there's a bunch of rambunctious big dogs roaring around, right, but yeah.

Speaker 2:

Oh, and then it was so hilarious. So Bernoulli, he led the pack, so he was playing with Nala, and then, oh, there's so much energy. And then he had the biggest puppy buzz, the biggest puppy buzz, and he was whipping around and then all the dogs were following him. They were all doing a puppy buzz around the yard. It were following him. They were all doing a puppy buzz around the yard. It was so cute, it was so amazing. Yeah, friendly, I have puppy buzz, I'm gonna run around. And then everybody's, oh yeah, what's happening? This is exciting.

Speaker 1:

I missed it. That's too bad, but I I had a. I had a really good interview for the science podcast, so I don't know, did you get some footage of it that we could put? No, no footage. Okay, all right, we'll just have to use your imagination.

Speaker 2:

I was just enjoying the moment with him today.

Speaker 1:

Yeah, that's true. It takes you out of the moment when you're constantly filming the dogs. I feel that on walks sometimes, so I'll film them for a minute. I just want to enjoy the time with them. We miss so much stuff. Obviously, if we just had a camera taped to our heads we would get everything. But yeah, had a camera taped to our heads we would get everything. But yeah, that's a cute story. Cbc is making plans to come interview chris and I. That's the big canada has one. I don't know what the best way to describe it. It's the. What is the cbc?

Speaker 1:

it's the canadian broadcasting corporation yeah, we're not as big as the united states and there's multiple networks down there and canada has the cbc and a few other small ones, but anyways, because of bunsen's cyst that he had is such a wild thing. Yeah, the cbc is making. We're trying to set up a time for them to come and the lady that I'm talking to, the reporter, she loves the dogs, chris, so she is allotting an hour and a half to two hours for the interview so that she can she can spend time with the dogs she's. The interview will take about an hour and a half to two hours. So, like whoa, that's intense, like we've been on. We've been on tv before for bunsen and beaker and it hasn't been that long and I was like, oh okay, what's going on? She's jokingly, it's the extra time is so I can play with the dogs, so that's really funny it actually.

Speaker 1:

That actually is hilarious yeah, so we'll keep everybody up to I don't know, I don't know when it is.

Speaker 2:

We're still kneeling down the time next week yeah, and it's funny you should bring that up, because actually I was talking about Bunsen and his alien baby tapeworm cyst today to another dog parent at Waggles and I actually cried when I was telling the story. I just said we weren't ready to let him go and we said they didn't know what they were going in to find. They were going in blind, no idea. They're like what is this on the ultrasound? And you got that scary phone call what should we do if it goes south? And we're like it's not going to go south, but it could have. And I just said we weren't ready to let him go and so then I just started to cry and it was really raw and interesting because it was long ago, not too long ago, but just weird that the emotion would come up today.

Speaker 1:

Yeah, it happened so fast. Two days right. He was in distress. When was it Thursday? No, thursday, and then the surgery was the next day.

Speaker 1:

So yeah wild, but he's a champ. He's doing great Like he is roaring around with the energy of the cold weather boost that he gets when it starts to get cold and it is getting cold. It was chilly today. We walked the dogs today. It was like we're at the point where if you don't wear your winter coat, it's probably too cold and if you don't wear gloves, your hands get way too cold. So for the folks that live South of us, that's the temperatures that we have right now, Cause I think if I give it in Celsius we might confuse some of our American friends. Maybe any news with ginger that you want to, any news with, uh Jen, we're in Alberta, Canada. People on Instagram are asking Any news with Ginger. Sorry, yeah, go ahead.

Speaker 2:

Just the story about the rubber squawky chicken. I heard this you guys have heard it on my Thanksgiving video, where I'm so thankful that Bunsen's growing his head back, and then you can hear it. It's like the most annoying. It's the most annoying but amazing sound and he loves it. He loves that chicken and I was hearing me. And then I went in and I saw that he had given it to ginger and I just got the end of it on tape, on video. But he was like going play with me with the rubber chicken, but that was very precious, gave his toy to ginger to play with and then she wasn't playing with it. So he's fine, I'm gonna take my toy and go home. Yeah, he took it back, but it was super cute that he shared one of his most prized possessions with the cat. Yeah, that's pretty cute.

Speaker 1:

Yeah, nothing to report with beaker, that we haven't really talked about beaker, aside that, just that she's a good girl. The burners get yeah, that's pretty cute. Yeah, nothing to report with Beaker. We haven't really talked about Beaker, aside that, just that she's a good girl. The Burners get a little barky when we get home and they get a little barky when it's time to go for a walk and Beaker just is the silent, smiling ninja dog. She's just like hi, no, sound. Just this great big smile in the morning, a great big smile to go for walks. She's not very loud. She only gets loud when she's ticked off at Bernoulli if he's doing some icky baby Bernoulli thing, and then she lets him have it occasionally, a couple times a week if he jumps up on like he's doing a little jump up activity, um, and Beaker does not like that.

Speaker 2:

no, when he jumps up on people, no, you do not behave like. That is not what we do here. And she tells him right off.

Speaker 1:

That's right. Yeah, she's become becoming safety officer. Beaker, she's taking over that role from Bunsen. Yeah, bunsen's, I'm retired. Go ahead, beaker, take the reins. I am retired. I had assist removed from me. It assist removed from me. It's been a rough.

Speaker 2:

It's been a rough 2024, I am retired from being safety officer bunsen. No, he's still safety officer bunsen, he is. He doesn't like.

Speaker 1:

He doesn't like bernoulli jumping up either no, he doesn't like it when we, we're, we do a thing where we don't want bernoulli to bite ever so. He's way beyond the point of a puppy nipping and right. So like we've stopped. We've stopped any kind of play long ago where his teeth would be on your skin, right, that's a big part of training a puppy not to nip you. Um, but I play with toys with him on the ground. He bites at the toy, right? Bunsen doesn't like that at all. He does not like that. So I have to do that when bunsen's not around, because bunsen will come over and bark and say hey, that is some weird play that you're doing. I don't like that because he doesn't play with toys at all. Really, especially like that where you go like this and he's I'm gonna take it. He's like what are you doing? That's stupid.

Speaker 2:

I'm gonna go lay down no, sometimes he does, sometimes he likes it really.

Speaker 1:

I think he just does it because he's he wants. I don't know. I guess he does it with Adam. Adam riles him up.

Speaker 2:

Yeah.

Speaker 1:

All right. Do you have any other stories, or can we move to the next phase of the show?

Speaker 2:

I took Bernoulli to HomeSense. Today, winner's HomeSense.

Speaker 1:

Oh, that's a good one. Yeah, go ahead, and I'm going to go through Instagram and get ready to read some of the comments. So go ahead, chris. Yeah.

Speaker 2:

Sure. So I'm looking for a little 10 centimeter but four inch shelf, Cause I want to put the Google nest on it in the kitchen. Um, I want the Google nest off the counter. That's extraneous information, but I but home sense, winners home sense, let's dogs come in. And so I'm like perfect, I'm going to be done with waggles. I can drive on my way home, stop off at Winner's Home Sense and look and see if they have any little shelves. So I go there. The store is packed, Like it is so full of people it's got Christmas crap everywhere. That is weird. It is so full of stuff like the aisles are packed with people and with merchandise and there's nowhere to move and there's nowhere to breathe. And we walked in and I saw three other dogs right off the hop. So other people had the same idea to come to winner's home sense and bring their dogs anyway.

Speaker 2:

So now I'm trying to go around in the store and I've got bernoulli with me and he's so happy and he's so good. And then he saw some people and they're like, oh, can you pet your dog? And this was in the kitchen housewares area, because I don't know where the shelves are in, and winner's home sense. And so I'm like, yeah, you can pet bernoulli. His name is boulli. They're like that's so cute. And I said he has social media, are you on social media? And they're like, yeah, I'm like his name is Bernoulli, but his brother and sister are Bunsen and Beaker. And they're like, oh, we should check that out. If they check that out they're going to be like, whoa, that is a pretty famous dog, but anyway.

Speaker 2:

So then we went around more and I couldn't find the shelves. So I then I'm now looking at Christmas coats or Christmas clothes to put on the dogs for Christmas advent. But then there's everybody there, everybody actually, and their dog was in that section and I'm like I cannot move around. And so then there was this little dog and it was like oh hi, I think I like no, and it had a big freak out and Bernie Lou's that dog is freaking out, yeah.

Speaker 1:

That's weird when dogs are freaking out and he's like what's your deal? Like he gives them this weird sideways. Look, because you need a pill or something. What's wrong?

Speaker 2:

with you? What's wrong with you, anyway? So we walked to the back of the store and then I saw two employees and I said where are your shelves? And she's oh, we have them right over here, but they're only small. And I said, perfect, I'm just looking for a small shelf. And then she says over there, and she's pointing, and I can't see anything. I can't see where these shelves are. I'm like, can you actually show me? Because I can't see, because there were people everywhere.

Speaker 2:

Anyway, so that happened and Bernoulli was such a good boy and it was good because the people had carts and they were going by him and so he had to be desensitized to the rolling cart and that was good. And then he was so amazing, going through the turnstile with all the impulse buys, and they have the pet section of the impulse buys right at the end there, and he was so good. And then what happened? Oh, he got to the till. There he is. He got to the till and he sat nicely. And then another big dog came in behind. Bernoulli wasn't phased at all, he was such a good boy. And the cashier, she was like whoa, my dogs would never behave like this. They would be all over the place. They would be barking and I said we've had some training. And then I said do you have instagram? I know I did. I I plugged this again, but it was funny that no one knew libra newly no like, I guess we're not we don't have millions of followers.

Speaker 1:

Cress Like we're not, we don't. We have a decent sized following. We have enough that. I'm sure if those people check social media they'd be like what the heck? Because that's usually the response.

Speaker 2:

Yeah, Okay, I mean that's my story. I had a great day with Bernoulli. I mean that's my story. So I had a great day with Bernoulli, socialization with people, with other dogs, in multiple different settings. I did not find a shelf oh, so that was the end of it no shelf but I got dog treats and those salted cashews, those caramel salted cashews.

Speaker 1:

I got. I had some of those. That was disappointing. I thought they would be yummy. They were bad.

Speaker 2:

They were not great.

Speaker 1:

No, can we go through some of the comments and move to community sharing? Chris, yes, okay, perfect. So if you would like to request the mic on Twitter or audio or whatever X spaces whatever we're calling it on Twitter right now go ahead, request the mic. I'm going to just go through a couple of comments to honor our live viewers. So, like I said, I see your comments way back at the start and and lazy 257 asked how many days since the last mauling, and I think the answer to that is that we may be moving past the mauling videos because it's not something that we want to.

Speaker 1:

It's not like we encourage it anyways, but we stop it immediately. Like if Bernoulli is even looking like he's going to be any kind of like beyond playful, we stop it because he's just so big and it's time to maybe move past that. So they do play really cute now, which is gentle, but I don't know. I think bernoulli lick mauled her this morning and then we stopped it, but it's it's not like it's violent when he was a puppy where he pinched her skin in the back I don't know what the best way to describe it.

Speaker 2:

To be honest, there's been zero days since the last ginger mauling and zero days since the last bernoulli bopping. Yeah, because, yeah, she's bopping he's mauling, yeah, zero days since the last Bernoulli bopping.

Speaker 1:

Because yeah, she's bopping, he's mauling, yeah, yeah it's a lot more gentle, though, and then, like they'll, yeah the.

Speaker 1:

She gets on the chair, so their face level, and then he just goes gently with his mouth, not even trying to bite her, and she just goes. It's so cute I think I posted a video with it, which was really cute. Another comment from Cindy R Lee aren't beaker and bernoulli siblings their dog, brother, sister, but they've got um, their brother, sister from another mister kind of thing. Um, body bad gureli xoxo from instagram. Do we know what's killing the moose? No, the biggest idea we have is probably a poacher leaving behind some legs. That's my idea, because what kind of predators do we have in Alberta, central Alberta, that would kill a moose? Not very many. Somebody gives a big shout out to the CBC and then has Bunsen's fur grown back. So I'll let you answer that one, chris yeah, his fur is growing back.

Speaker 2:

It's not 100 in, but he before the cbc interview. We're taking him on tuesday for a shampoo and a little bit of a brush, a shampoo and a blowout, because we want him looking as good as possible and then then he won't smell coyote poo anymore.

Speaker 1:

Oh yeah, he was. He smells okay, but he was so bad early in the week it was nasty.

Speaker 2:

Yeah, he rolled in it and he's all I smell good. No, he did not.

Speaker 1:

No, you don't, I had to give him a freezing cold bath outside. He did not. No, you don't, you did not. I'm gonna give him a freezing cold bath outside. That sucked cheryl kiddio asks where do you get your dog advent calendars from? Chris, can you answer that one?

Speaker 2:

Oh for sure. So we have a store here called the Bone and the Biscuit and they have dog advent calendars. But also the other day we went to PetSmart and they had some different advent calendars. So PetSmart and then also the Bone and Biscuit here in town. Bone and biscuit here in town. The sad thing is that there used to be these ones with the little hearts, that there was two in one of the. I don't know how I'm going to do it now, cause I have three dogs and I barely could break those cookies apart, but there was two little hearts.

Speaker 1:

Chris, it's going to be a hot mess. It's going to be a hot mess with Bernoulli.

Speaker 2:

Yeah, but anyways, there was two little hearts in there and that company. They had a section to make for human human treats and then also a section for the dog treats, and now they're only exclusively doing human food. So it's oh no, what am I gonna do? I just bought a different advent calendar, so we're gonna, we're gonna go with it as a person has eaten dog treats before.

Speaker 1:

If you're desperate, they're not that bad, just as just say throwing that out there. We're going to go to a speaker on Twitter and then I'll we'll answer some more questions from Instagram and the live. Okay, so who's our first speaker? Is it? Pink princess came up first, so maybe we'll go to pink princess in the city If you want to speak. Hi, jason, hi.

Speaker 5:

If you want to speak. Hi, Jason.

Speaker 1:

Hi, chris, can you hear me? You betcha, and for people who are watching live, this is a. This is somebody from Twitter speaking through our technology, so you can hear the conversation Go ahead. Pink princess.

Speaker 5:

Oh no, I just wanted to share a funny story because one because my younger niece. She thinks that at a community event she met a giant. She met a giant, adorable bernie's mountain dog, but she couldn't remember that they were called bernie's mountain dog because I think I told you how I gifted her a ginger. I gifted her the trio of the stuffies that you have of the of your fur babies for her like for her birthday a while ago, and things that she couldn't remember the name but she remembered. She knows that bunsen is a bernie's mountain dog, so she told the woman who. She told the dog's human family oh, you have a bunsen dog and by chance, they are fans of yours through instagram. Oh, no way that's hilarious.

Speaker 1:

I found out that they were fans of yours through Instagram. Oh no way, that's hilarious.

Speaker 5:

I found out that they were fans of yours through Instagram and they're like we know who Bunsen is, we follow his story and they were like. They like with many people were cheering for him when he got sick over the summer and so he thought it was the cutest thing that they called there, that she called their Bernese Mountain dog a Bunsen. So I, just, like you guys, would like to hear that.

Speaker 1:

Oh, I'm tearing up. That's a really sweet story. Thank you for sharing. Oh, that's very sweet, that's awesome.

Speaker 2:

I love that story too. And then just today, like I was talking about him and just I guess, the profound impact that that surgery and that scare had for us, and how much love there is out there in the world for for him too.

Speaker 1:

That was overwhelming and, uh, made made the situation, which was scary and sad, a little less lonely and sad. Sad, I guess, because we had this massive community pulling for him. Kelly says from she's watching on Twitter live, you guys need business cards to pass out. We ran out of business cards. I got to order some more because we put them in with our merch with the calendars, and I ran out and we forgot to order more. So we'll go to another live speaker and then we'll get to some of the questions on Instagram after another live speaker. So, chris, who's next?

Speaker 2:

so, holly and sasha, the burnadoodle is next, and then we have rich with baden the chocolate.

Speaker 3:

Uh, goofball okay, hi guys. Hello, good to be on pet chat. Um. Okay, jason, important information col Colin is on the second chapter in dragon age, um, and is very much enjoying the story. His only gripe is he really likes to open world games, and the previous game was open world. Yeah, cause he's one of these people. He likes to go off on random side quests and then you know, hop in and out of the story, but otherwise he says he's really enjoying it.

Speaker 3:

And I tell you that's where he is. He's in the second chapter.

Speaker 1:

Sweet. I think that's about where I am and I'm about the same way. I am enjoying it, but I do miss the open world. Yes, I'm pretty much the same.

Speaker 3:

I was gonna say you two are very compatible gamers. I must say I think so. Anyway, this week Sasha and Toby continue to make progress. So our last cat, fiona, taught Sasha about nose booping as a way to show affection to a cat, and so Sasha, when Fiona was still around. If Fiona was at her eye level, sasha would just walk up to her and boop her on the nose and give her a tiny little nose lick, and Fiona loved that. And Sasha and Toby came within about six inches the other night of a nose boop. It was very exciting for me.

Speaker 1:

Aw, very cute.

Speaker 3:

Yes, and I am so jealous of how good Bernoulli is. There would be no way I would have walked into the store with Sasha and just turned around and headed back out because she would not have been able to deal. So you guys have an absolutely wonderful pup he's pretty special.

Speaker 1:

I was looking, I posted I haven't posted on twitter yet, but I was looking through puppy uh videos of bernoulli the day we brought him home and there's one of Chris just sitting with him in the car and he's just so calm, like yeah. Other two dogs freaked out a bit on the way home. They were missing their you know their siblings, right and their mom and their dad. Yep, and Bernoulli didn't cry once the whole way home. He was just he's just so calm oh, you're so lucky when're so lucky.

Speaker 3:

When we picked up Sasha from her breeders in farther north on Vancouver Island and we lived in Vancouver at the time, so it was a two-part trip it was drive from the town down to the ferry. We stopped and took a break and then take the ferry back and from the breeders to Nanaimo.

Speaker 3:

Sasha cried in the car for an hour and a half and then I think she wore herself out, because then she slept the rest of the way back. So I hear you, winter is definitely setting in here, which in victoria, means rain, which means sasha's coming home with mud from sasha mountain. I don't know if I I don't know if I've asked you this before and if this is a burner thing, but the way sasha's hair is, we learned very early on, if she comes home muddy, just to not touch her until she dries, and then 85 of the mud just falls out and we brush the rest of it out and it's wonderful, because then we just run a vacuum through the floor and it's all good.

Speaker 1:

Yeah, the thing that shocked me the most. And you were closer to the ocean, obviously, than we are. Bunsen loves the ocean whenever we. How many times has he been to the ocean, chris? Three times, two times, two or three, three, two or three, three times. And he gets so sandy right because he'll lie in yes, right.

Speaker 1:

And then we're like, oh god, the first time. We're like, how are we ever going to get this big dog clean? He's covered in sand. And then he just dried and all the sand fell off of him and he was pristine like as soon as he was dry and we just like swept up all the sand.

Speaker 3:

Yeah no, it's very true, sasha's like bunsen. Sasha loves the beach and she loves running in the sand, but, dear god, if a wave hits her paws, just oh hell. No, yeah, there'd be no way I'd ever get into a kayak. Oh, I wouldn, I wouldn't even try, yeah. So yeah, that's what's going on with us and I was going to say, since you got, since I'm a transplant in Canada, I'm feeling like now that Remembrance Day is past, my instinct is saying that I could start, like with the Christmas stuff. You guys would agree with that.

Speaker 1:

Oh yeah yeah, Chris and I are just not organized until we're done teaching, like the thought of doing anything until we're on christmas holidays is exhausting, so yeah, oh, what I was gonna?

Speaker 3:

I was gonna say, jason, you need to get chris a a wine advent calendar, because after doing advent with pets, she's gonna need some wine oh okay, that's a great idea and Winner's Home Sense is all ready for Christmas.

Speaker 2:

If you go into a Winner's Home Sense, you'll just be like whoa, a North Pole is right here in this building.

Speaker 3:

Yeah, I was in downtown Victoria today and there's a square that's like right by City Hall that they decorate for Christmas every year, and the construction guys were out today getting all the Christmas stuff set up, which was pretty cool.

Speaker 1:

Oh, that's fun.

Speaker 3:

Yeah, anyway, thanks, guys, I'll talk to you later, okay.

Speaker 1:

Have yourself a good day and rest of the week, Holly.

Speaker 2:

Thanks.

Speaker 1:

Holly. I'm just going to go through a couple more comments from the live, chris, and then we'll get to back. We'll go back to Twitter spaces. Cindy Riley asks where is Bunsen? He's upstairs barking right now. He doesn't like that. We're downstairs, so that's why we're downstairs, so you guys don't hear him barking. He gets a little talky. Alex Mithsaz asks how is Ginger? I think is good you, we took her on a walk today, she knows?

Speaker 2:

yeah, go ahead, chris yeah, so she knows when we're getting ready to go. Yeah, she, the dogs are all on point and they're like excited, and then she goes right to the door and then she goes right to her carrier to either jump in herself or to be put into her carrier, depending on the dog situation. Because if the the dogs are like she's, I don't know if I want to jump into the carrier myself, cause as mid jump there could be a mauling. Yeah, so yeah.

Speaker 1:

Pat says no blueberries today, Chris. No, but I am wanting to get some blueberries. We're going to go grocery shopping after the show. I would love to get some blueberries. Another really good question I think we should answer for the live folks is who came first, Ginger or Bernoulli? I'll let you answer that one, Chris.

Speaker 2:

Okay, ginger did.

Speaker 1:

Yeah.

Speaker 2:

So we actually I was just thinking about it today when I was booking Bunsen's appointment the last time we oh, it wasn't that time, it was the time prior because Jason and I were going to with the dogs as special guests to a TELUS World of Science Spark After Dark event, and that was fun, and I had taken them to the groomers Beaker and Bunsen. And then we were, adam and I were picking the dogs up from the groomers and oh, there was ginger. She was part of the rescue program. So again, it's the bone in the biscuit. That's the store that we like in town. They had ginger as part of an adoption program and I normally I'm like man, whatever A cat's a cat.

Speaker 2:

I am a cat person, but Jason's severely allergic. So I learned early on that life with Jason means no more cats and that was okay. That was okay. But then now we were able to feed her the food that binds to the Feldy one protein and I said there has to be a way, adam, that we get this cat like. She is so special and so amazing and so awesome. We have to find a way and we did and now we have her and now we have her.

Speaker 2:

So we had Ginger and then we recently got, so she was like one and we've had her. For what? Three years, two years yeah yeah, and then Bernoulli was a bit of a a bit of a surprise, because Jason was making these things called powerpoint, but they were google. They were google slide decks yeah, slide decks yeah, not powerpoints, but he was like powerpoint and I'm like, no, it's a google slide deck with. He wanted to get a new fee I did and I said absolutely not, absolutely not.

Speaker 1:

No fee here but what if we have? What if there's a new fee food that binds to the slobbery fell d1 protein? Anyways, that's the story about ginger. Okay, we'll get to some more comments after we go back.

Speaker 2:

Oh yeah, we've been taking a long time and Rich has been waiting.

Speaker 1:

Hi Rich, yeah, go ahead, Rich.

Speaker 4:

Ah, there you go. Hi guys, How's things Good? We hope you're well. Yeah, I'm actually not pouring gin and tonics tonight. Oh, okay, Somebody went last week and wanted a gin and tonic, but I couldn't deliver it. I think it was Paula. Oh, A couple things. I'll hit on Christmas decorations and Remembrance Day. Most of the vets that I know and bear in mind, I do work at a Legion don't really care if you start Christmas before Remembrance Day. They just want you to show up to the ceremony and wear your poppy and remember the men and women who did everything, laid down their lives or whatever. So we have the freedom to put up our Christmas decorations before Remembrance Day. Dayton and I have found a new trail to walk on. I don't know if you saw the picture. It's called Nine Mile River Trails.

Speaker 2:

Yeah, in the forest, there I saw it.

Speaker 4:

Yeah, yeah, very well-grown, very comfortable, very easygoing. On somebody's old knees not Baden's, mine. He loves it because it's just so much to smell. And what I've noticed is when we're in the woods walking like that, whether he's on the leash or not, he likes to be about five to ten feet ahead, almost like he's checking everything out to make sure it's safe for the rest of us. We had him and the grandchildren up in another set of trails and he was definitely making sure it was safe for the kiddies. It's cool and cat bopping of cats. As you probably know, or some of you may have seen the picture there's a.

Speaker 4:

Our youngest cat was a rescue from my daughter-in-law's dairy farm and when we got him he weighed all of 10 and a half ounces and was hyperthermic. And after spending a great deal of most of the day at the vet's on a heating pad wrapped in towel, I took him home and Baden was curled up on the sofa. So I thought the best, warmest place for this kitten would be to snuggle him up with Baden and keep him warm. That worked out quite fine. They're pretty good buddies now. That worked out quite fine.

Speaker 4:

They're pretty good buddies now, but every so often Gizmo, which is the cat's name, will completely confuse Baden, because he'll start purring like crazy and rubbing along the muzzle and licking his head, which is a very cat-like behavior. But dogs don't understand it and the what the heck is going on look on baden's face is really quite funny. And then every so often, baden's paw will come out, thump the cat down and he'll either lick them all over or he'll just use his front teeth and nibble up and down the belly and the gizmo cat just sounds like a motorcycle just taking off and loves it Like it's just. It's so cute. I've never managed to get it decently on video because as soon as my phone comes out they go. Yeah, nope, we're not letting anybody see this.

Speaker 1:

Oh that's like Bernoulli and Ginger as soon as we go to film them, they move away from cuddling.

Speaker 4:

Yeah, so oh yeah. No, I see you found that that picture, I love that one, and so that's all the. There's other stuff that's also cool, but I'm sure there's other people you want to talk to and all that sort of thing I love the story, and at least it gives us hope that bernoulli and ginger will become more cuddly like you're too yeah, and then our ginger cat.

Speaker 4:

He will occasionally, when nobody's looking, curl up with Baden as well. There'll be back to back. If I don't admit, them admit that they're there and nobody sees us. We will be quite fine like this.

Speaker 1:

Awesome. Thanks for the update, Rich. I appreciate that. Chris, do you have anything else to talk to Rich about?

Speaker 2:

No, I just put another picture of Baden in the nest there where he's sitting on the path looking up going. I love this place.

Speaker 4:

Oh sorry, go ahead. No you go ahead, rich. Yeah, I was just going to say it's a nice picture, that's really. Oh sorry, go ahead.

Speaker 2:

No, I'm just going to. No, you go ahead, Rich.

Speaker 1:

Yeah, I was just going to say it's a nice picture that's in the nest there. So yeah, go ahead.

Speaker 4:

And we're expecting grandbaby number three in about a month.

Speaker 2:

Oh, congratulations, that's exciting.

Speaker 4:

Yeah, grandbaby number one has me wrapped around her. Granddaughter Number one, grandkid number two she has me wrapped around her baby finger. We know the next one's going to be a granddaughter as well. In about a month. I'm going to look like a pretzel, oh my goodness.

Speaker 2:

Oh, I love that for you.

Speaker 4:

Oh, we are so excited. We are so excited. Our daughter-in-law, I think, is just Chris. You probably sympathize. I've had enough of this. I don't want to be pregnant anymore. I want to make it go away.

Speaker 2:

No, I love being pregnant. I could have been pregnant forever.

Speaker 1:

Okay, I don't know if that's true. I don't remember that the same way.

Speaker 4:

If you'll indulge me, when Angie, my wife, was pregnant with our first, it was pre-cell phone and we had pagers and I'd be out of an evening and whatever food Angie saw on a TV commercial she wanted. And DQ Dairy Queen was running a peanut butter parfait special and DQ Dairy Queen was running a peanut buster parfait special.

Speaker 1:

The number of peanut butter parfaits I had to get was well and truly phenomenal. They're delicious, though. That's a delicious sweet treat from DQ.

Speaker 4:

Yeah, the worst part is in the middle of the night she'd wake me up once she had to go pee and once she said will you go pee for me? And I was so, so asleep. I got halfway to the bathroom when I realized there's much I can do for my wife, but that's just not one of them.

Speaker 2:

Yeah, you gotta stick to the dq treats yeah, yeah, that was my mom's favorite the peanut butter parfait.

Speaker 4:

I've heard Sunday.

Speaker 1:

My, what did my? Did my mom have a favorite? Chris, I know my dad loves the Dilly bars. He's crazy for the Dilly bars he talks about them all the time. I don't know. I think my, I think my mom was a blizzard person. If I'm going to be honest, I'll have to ask my sisters, maybe they know Rich. Oh yeah, I was just going to say thanks for the update, rich.

Speaker 4:

It's always great to talk to you. Yep, you guys stay out of trouble, you betcha, you bet.

Speaker 1:

The live viewers got a little bit of a treat. Bernoulli was chewing on his chew and he was done for a second, so I got him on the live stream for a second. Yeah, he's a cutie. Then he started to chew my chair. And then he started to chew the back oh my God. And then he started to chew the back.

Speaker 2:

Oh my god, chris has ginger.

Speaker 1:

Yeah, so the live viewers get a treat too yeah, oh, bernoulli heard the word ginger and he's up now looking around for her oh yeah see if they'll see each other on the screen no, no, he doesn't, has no concept of tv. He's like bunsen he's over there, he's gonna chew, he's tries to chew, he's trying to chew the spring yeah on the side.

Speaker 1:

Whoa, I see that I might have to stop him. Hey, for newly. Thank you. Yeah, you can chew that. Okay, a couple more comments on instagram and then I think we'll wrap up a good one. Did you hear that he just hit the spring? Somebody was asking where they can get our merch, so we'll do a little plug at the end, but it's from our website and our website is in our bio. So if you go to our profile, all of our profiles on all social media sites has our merch store. A story for another time. Somebody asked how you and I met chris, and I think that's too long for right now, but maybe we could revisit that next week or something like that. That's, that's a. I think that's too long for right now, but maybe we could revisit that next week or something like that. That's, that's a. I guess that's a pretty fun story.

Speaker 2:

How you how?

Speaker 1:

you and I met um and then over on lily who's watching on facebook really nice comment. My fur babies and I love watching the science gang videos, so I I think that's fun facts with Bernoulli. We love making fun facts with Bernoulli, like I look forward to making those and I try to make one a day. So I love that people are connecting with it. And, of course, like, the voices aren't for everybody. We've got some comments. People find their voices annoying, but the majority of people like we see your comments that you like it and when you like stuff that we do comment, so we do. We'll just make more of it. And the fun facts with Bernoulli is perfect because we get to talk about science and they're they're really fun to do and it also helps us with training Bernoulli to sit. What is going on? What are you?

Speaker 2:

I just thought about, I just thought about the fun facts with Bernoulli, and TikTok changed the voices and you're like, oh no, I don't have any voices. And then you were able to find the voices somewhere else, but Bunsen's voice was different and Bernoulli's like what's wrong with your voice, Bunsen? This is how I talk now.

Speaker 1:

Yeah, because we know as soon as a voice change, there's going to be a thousand comments. What's up with Bunsen's new voice? So I like preemptively knew okay, bernoulli is chewing the door. Just, you're gonna have to talk for a second, chris Bernoulli yeah, straight up chewing the door.

Speaker 2:

So what happened is Jason changed the voice and this is my voice now and then. The other thing is because Jason really wanted the voice of Bernoulli and he had to go somewhere else to get it, but then that made the captions all super small and tiny and then he had to address that preemptively in the video. Bernoulli's, what's wrong with your captions? They went really small there and this is just us now. This is it. This is what's happening. I don't know, it's just not working. It was just so hilarious.

Speaker 1:

This is just the way it is. It's really messed up.

Speaker 2:

I couldn't stop laughing. This is how I talk now.

Speaker 1:

It was the stupidest voice too. I'm so sad we lost. Anyways, we got it back. But I'm so sad we lost. Anyways, we got it back. But everybody's complaining on TikTok that it's random. The voices will come and go and I like. I've been using CapCut to edit some stuff and it's not great to edit compared to it's very powerful, but there's some annoying things. Anyways, nobody cares about this.

Speaker 2:

They do because they make comments on it. And I ran your CapCut video to get the captions through Splice and then Bernoulli's going like on the video. He's like all weird jank, but you know what? The voice was there, the captions were there in normal size, but then you got like this weird movement.

Speaker 1:

Yeah, there was no winning.

Speaker 2:

There's nothing for it. We try the best we can.

Speaker 1:

We try, we have, can we try we? We have full-time jobs and we've got three dogs, so we sometimes you get what you get and I just hit send. I'm like people are gonna think this is stupid, but that's what we have today you know what else like 11 o'clock at night. I want to go to sleep. I'm like, whatever, this is just how it is today, like that's the voice going in my head. All right, let's wrap this up, because we're over the hour, chris go ahead.

Speaker 2:

Okay, I was just going to say what else we have is Canada Post is on strike.

Speaker 1:

Oh yeah, we're all for because we're all for people getting a fair wage, so we're not complaining. But it definitely will affect really shipping for people in Canada. So our American customers, we've been, we worked a couple. Hey, go ahead. Chris Bernoulli is chewing the floor, hey.

Speaker 2:

Yes, this is Bernoulli. He likes to chew everything and anything. But no, with our shipping we can ship to our American friends and our overseas friends.

Speaker 1:

Not calendars, though, not calendars to the two, not calendars overseas.

Speaker 2:

Yeah, but if you order something, we we're hoping that the resolution that canada post the crown corporation can come together with the union and have a fair and equitable resolution soon so that we can continue shipping things out to you here in canada and speaking of shipping things, yes, we got our.

Speaker 1:

we got. We were the most organized we've ever been and we have all of our Black Friday stuff ready to go like a week early, like everybody else apparently. I just thought you just post on the Friday. No, it's like Black Friday. What are you chewing? Don't chew. What is that?

Speaker 2:

It's like the month of sales.

Speaker 1:

Yeah.

Speaker 2:

Or at least two weeks before and then two weeks after. So, yeah, a month or a week and a week, yeah, yeah, so we're just capitalizing on being organized is what we're doing.

Speaker 1:

Yeah. So there's a code down at the bottom there Black Friday 10. We'll save you 10 on everything in our store and we have a bunch of like new deals and some new products in the black friday deal in our store. Like, we've got our post-it notes, we've got the uh, fancy gel pens, which we're almost sold out of. So many people bought the fancy gel pens today. We I don't know what do we got left like 30 of them. They're almost sold out and that we won't have any more for this season once they're gone.

Speaker 1:

And then, of course, the stuffies are really good grid price. So if you're thinking to get and we're almost sold out of the calendars too, like some of our stuff, we didn't anticipate the demand and we're down to very little of it and that's like the calendars. I think we're 70% sold out. The pens we don't have a lot of the bags. There's some stuff we have low stock. So if you check it and you want it, I jump on, get it right away.

Speaker 1:

And then, of course, if you're looking for awesome Christmas gifts at a time as people who will attest who've gotten our stuffies they're huge and they make really good presents and every stuffie comes with a experiment you can do. And they are all rated for. What is it? Six and five and up or something Like. They're cuddly, soft stuffies and they're really big Three and up, I think. Three and up, yeah. And lastly, I did post about norbert, but norbert is doing good and I don't want to go into a big long spiel about it, so maybe we'll update next week about norbert. We'll keep that in our list. And chris is talking about bark and beyond. Right now she's putting some stuff on twitter about bark and beyond and that remember that is our one of our sponsors, bark and beyondBeyondSupplycom. Use the code Bunsen and you can save yourself 10%. They got lots of great stuff on their website.

Speaker 2:

Yeah, and one of the things that I just put up into the nest is pause in for their son. A couple of weeks ago, kristen talked about their journey, about what they're going through, and they have a special pre-order fundraiser using their six best-selling dog treats to support their son's medical care. So, as we're talking about buying things for Christmas, maybe this is a small business that you would consider supporting, because they are amazing. They give back so much to the community and we just really appreciate all that they do. So, yeah, they have the crunchy peanut butter one, which our dogs were loved. So they're the six favorite treats. But I did put it in the nest and if you're not on the Twitter, you can find BarkingBeyondSupplycom with their website.

Speaker 1:

Yeah, and it's in the chyron scrolling for people who are watching live, so I'll just leave that up for a bit. All right, it's time for the prize, right? We've got a $20 gift certificate from Barking Beyond, so somebody is going to win it. Now, if you're watching live, you're just a number. So if you're watching live, you're just a number. We would love for you to be in the draw, and the only way you can be in the draw is if you drop a comment. It's like the tech booth at Comic-Con If you're not here, sucks to be you. You don't get to win. So we don't know. Ooh, callback Jason.

Speaker 2:

I love it.

Speaker 1:

I know Where's my. Do I have a? I need a callback button. I don't, anyways. No, not anyway. So drop a comment, so we know that you're here, to say, hi, put the your favorite which. Yeah, just drop a comment. So I know that you're here, so you're in the draw. It's really easy on twitter because you have you to be listening. You're an avatar, right. So how many people minus us are on twitter right now? Chris?

Speaker 2:

28 28.

Speaker 1:

Okay, and I'm just waiting for the comments to come in. And instagram's always delayed. Yeah, there's like a 10 second 5 to 10 second delay to instagram, so we'll just give everybody a little bit of chance here. There's a lot of we. We posted in our newsletter about the black flop Friday deals and a lot of people jumped on that. Thank you for supporting us.

Speaker 1:

By the way, we really appreciate little things that people do listen to our podcast deals and a lot of people jumped on that. Thank you for supporting us. By the way, um, we really appreciate little things. That people do listen to our podcast, which is free. Subscribe to us on twitter or instagram it's only a buck a month and then, of course, to our paw pack members. If you check our website, that's the. It's like our patreon, but we try to give so much back to the folks who subscribe to us through the Pop Pack Plus and then getting merch from our store. Just thank you so much. As I'm packing calendars and stuffies and our pens. I couldn't imagine seven years ago or six years ago that we'd have branded pens going all over the world. I just thank you so much for supporting us. It means a lot, thank you Okay. So we've got how many people on Twitter again, chris, oh, I'll just just thank you so much for supporting us. It means it means a lot. Thank you Okay. So we've got how many people on Twitter again.

Speaker 2:

Chris, oh, I'll just look. I'm just going through the chat and Sarah Brown got her text from Bunsen three, which is awesome, and then we have a really nice weather in Melbourne, australia, like hot, like really warm, so I'm just going through. Oh, we lost a follower on.

Speaker 1:

The thing is we're now at 27 okay, all right, we have 25 comments from live, so that's oh wow, hello live people.

Speaker 2:

There's a lot there's.

Speaker 1:

My stats are pretty shocking. I'll tell you in a second about how many people have watched this live through video. 26 and 27, so that's 53. All right, I'm gonna go random number 53. Okay, now again, for full transparency, I can show everybody, so that way you guys see that I'm going to roll. It's just a random number generator, so I'm going to hit generate and we have 31. So that is on Instagram. Somebody from Instagram one, chris. I love that yeah, so you said there's 26 people on Twitter.

Speaker 2:

No, I lied, I don't know. I look again.

Speaker 1:

Okay.

Speaker 2:

No, now there's yeah look again.

Speaker 1:

Okay, no, now there's. Yeah, there was 20. Did I say 27? Yeah, so yeah, 27. So 28, 29, 30, 31, okay, so the person who won is from instagram and your account is dn. Underscore e trn. Dn. Underscore. Underscore E T R N. D N underscore E T R N. Congratulations, you have one. If you DM us on Instagram, we'll hook you up with Bark and Beyond for your prize. So congratulations, well done, very cool.

Speaker 2:

Unless they're on Twitter themselves and they can DM themselves. But we don't know. Yeah, if you're on Twitter, you can get ahold of us, or you can get ahold of Bark and Beyond and they'll dm themselves, but we don't know yeah, if you're on twitter, you can get a hold of us, or you can get a hold of bark and beyond and they'll.

Speaker 1:

They'll figure it out. It's just a code that they'll send you for their website. It's very simple, but we just need to hook you up with our sponsor, right? So that's dn underscore e-t-r-n. Cool, cool. Okay, time for wrap up. I gave Bernoulli the backup chew, so that's why he's not eating the wall anymore.

Speaker 2:

Good job.

Speaker 1:

Yeah, we need to have a Bernoulli cam, I think. I think people would just watch him eat this chew instead of my face. Honestly, but here we go. All right, thank you for coming to pet chat everybody. We had a good core of 30 continuous 30, some around 30, some people on twitter. Today. My stats for the lives is 1 700 people, chris. Wow, yeah, 1 700 people pretty amazing. And that doesn't include our Instagram fans. So thank you everybody for tuning into Pet Chat. In the future, I am booking some guests for Pet Chat, chris. I haven't told you about this yet, but there will be a couple expert pet guests who will be joining us in December Talk specifically about some very specific issue with pets. So I think it's going to be really interesting to add to our show.

Speaker 2:

I think so too.

Speaker 1:

Yeah, I have to actually get back to people. We're being inundated with requests now, which is cool. Chris, go over to you Any closing thoughts.

Speaker 2:

Thank you everybody for coming and we really appreciate this community that we built together and enjoy your pets. Give them hugs and kisses as many as you can. And we really appreciate this community that we built together and enjoy your pets. Give them hugs and kisses as many as you can.

Speaker 1:

And we will see you next week for Pet Chat. Same time, same place. All right, bye, bye.

Speaker 2:

Bye everybody.
