PetChat - Unleashing Heartwarming Tales AND How Social Media Matches Rescue Dogs to Forever Homes
If you've ever wondered about the behind-the-scenes magic that pairs rescue dogs with loving homes, Skarlet Rockwood from Fur Social joins us to reveal just that.
Our furry family members, Bunsen and Beaker, often steal the show with their shenanigans, but today we're peeling back the curtain on the touching adoption stories fueled by social media know-how. Settle in for an episode where we celebrate the quirks of our pets, explore the impact of animals on local ecosystems, and share the milestones of sanctuary residents like James Earl Jones the dog.
When Bunsen came home from Comic-Con with a limp, our hearts sank, and our community rallied with support and advice. Keeping an energetic dog like Bunsen quiet is an art form we're perfecting, and we'll share the tips we've learned along the way. We'll also reel you into the world of dog sports with updates from Marla's obedience trials, and you'll be amused by the great escape of Chopper, the brown kelpie, during a sunny Sunday adventure. This episode is a patchwork of narratives that cast a spotlight on the rollercoaster of pet ownership.
Wrap up your day with us as we reminisce about our costume charity event, where we channeled "The Mandalorian" for a school fundraiser—cosplay for a cause, you might say.
So, join the conversation, where we celebrate our love for pets, community, and the occasional Canadian delicacy.

Hello pet enthusiasts, Welcome to Pet Chat. My name is Jason Zakowski. I'm the dog dad of Bunsen and Beaker the science dogs on social media.
Speaker 2:My co-hostess with the mostest is Hi there, I'm Chris Zakowski and I am the dog mom to Bunsen and Beaker and the cat mom to Ginger.
Speaker 3:Normally Pet Chat goes without a hitch, but we had some serious reverberation. It sounded like I was an alien. But I've got the problem solved and we're ready to go. Pet Chat works this way we talk a little bit about Bunsen and Beaker, we play a game and occasionally we might have a guest, and we have a guest today. So, scarlett, you're going to be joining us a little bit later to talk about some stuff. Maybe just quickly introduce yourself, so people who are on live, who see you, understand who you are and what's going on there.
Speaker 4:Yeah, absolutely so. I'm Scarlett Rockwood. I am the owner and founder of Fur Social. We're a marketing agency that works specifically with pet businesses, and I also do a lot of work with my local shelter to help them get their rescue dogs adopted easily through social visibility.
Speaker 3:Yes, and that's what we're going to be talking about a little bit later is the use of social media to adopt rescue dogs. Okay, so we usually start with a game. I'd love to still start with kahoot. It didn't crash, so we have a bunch of people in kahoot. Um, now scar, uh, scarlet, you can play too, it's. You go to kahootit and you put that little code in, but you might need to like have a second browser on your you know, like another tab to do that, and I've got it up at the top of the link there. And while everybody's logging in, let's hear a little word from our sponsor. Does that sound like a plan, chris?
Speaker 2:yes, I was just going to tell scarlet if she has 12 phones.
Speaker 4:All you need is 12 phones to play kahoot and run the show and do everything well, one of my phones is a very poor substitute for my ring light right now, and that's the only one I've got. So that's what I'm going to say.
Speaker 3:Oh well, barkin' Beyond is here, so let's hear from one of our sponsors. One of the sponsors of Pet Chat is BarkinBeyondSupplycom. Barkinbeyondsupplycom is a small family owned company that started off making joint supplements for dogs. Chris I think that might be part of our story is needing joint supplements for Bunsen. They also have tons of adorable stuff for dogs and cats, including really cool and fun and punny T-shirts. If you use the code Bunsen B-U-N-S-E-N at BarkingBeyondSupplycom, you're going to save 15% tonight. So skip the big box store and help out the little guy. All right, chris, where'd you go?
Speaker 2:I wanted to take a sip of water.
Speaker 3:Oh okay, jamie's here too. Jamie, we figured out the problem. It was Hooray of water. Oh okay, jamie's. Here too, jamie, we figured out the problem. It was uh yeah. So jamie from australia has joined us on live as well. So, okay, all right, we are going to start with kahoot. Oh, we got, we got some people playing. That's great. I'm so glad this wasn't an absolute debacle, um, with all the tech problems, but we got a bunch of people playing Kahoot. So the code again is 501-6915. There's five questions and I will present the screen and you people on live can play along, even if you're not actually playing Kahoot. Okay, so, chris, are you ready?
Speaker 2:I am ready. I am not. Is Kat on there this week? Kat is there.
Speaker 3:Oh, Kat beat Chris that is my competition. Kat beat Chris last week.
Speaker 2:yes, In our last game.
Speaker 3:Yeah, yeah.
Speaker 2:I'm very happy to have us all playing together.
Speaker 3:Now, today is a very I'm not jealous or not competitive at all.
Speaker 2:0%.
Speaker 3:Today is a special day. Do you know why, chris?
Speaker 2:because it's may the fourth that's right.
Speaker 3:So you may or may not have some star wars trivia today, which definitely isn't going to help chris out at all. Okay, let's, let's get started. Okay, question? Uh, we're starting here. I think I've got it shared on live. Let me just jump back to stream yard. Oh, yeah, good, okay, how many kids does darth vader have? Two, three, one, none, he's a sith ward. How many kids does darth vader have? Do you know the answer to that, chris? We'll see. The correct answer is two. Luke Skywalker and Leia Skywalker, luke and Leia. Or Leia, chris, you got that right, congratulations, okay. Or Leia, chris, you got that right, congratulations.
Speaker 2:Okay, leia Organa.
Speaker 3:Leia Organa, that's right. Yeah, where was the Australian Shepherd breed created? Where was the Australian Shepherd breed created? We did a thread this week. Was it Austria, the United States, england or Australia? Duh, where was the Australian shepherd breed created? And the answer is, if you've checked, if you were following the thread, is the United States. In fact, the Australian shepherd has almost nothing to do with Australia. In my my research, it actually came from the, came from, uh, germany, england, and it was the breed was developed in the united states of america. Um, so the the best guess is that a bunch of australian cattle ranchers were the ones who perhaps bred that breed in the united states. Isn't that funny?
Speaker 3:Graziers not ranchers, graziers, oh, yeah, yeah, right, okay, shatsy Mama's in first place. Okay, next question. In text from Bunsen this week why did Bunsen get fired? You're fired. He attempted a hostile takeover and name change to second breakfast. He slept on the job. He uh, he was going to cold call a snowman. He stole all the food and ate it. Okay, the correct answer is he was gonna cold call a snowman.
Speaker 3:It looks like in text from Bunsen in that joke Bunsen was getting wrangled by Adam to sell for Bell and then he did not meet Adam's high standards and was fired by Adam in the joke. So that is a joke. Bunsen would not get fired from anything. We love him very much. Okay, oh, chris is a joke. Bunsen would not get fired from anything. We love him very much. Okay, oh, chris is just ahead. This is very close. Going into the last two questions, jason saw a hilarious poster of a Canada goose at Comic-Con. The goose was labeled a Canadian alligator, handsome bully, disservice animal, cobra chicken. I'm actually kicking myself for not buying that poster, chris. And it was a disservice animal. Yeah, cause they don't help anybody except I mean, they're really good for the environment, but they really don't help people at all.
Speaker 2:Um, they are you'll have your chance. We're going to go to Edmonton, right.
Speaker 3:Yeah, I just got so much art.
Speaker 2:F and Birds is going to be there in. Edmonton, I'm sure.
Speaker 3:We love F and Birds. Did you notice at the Comic-Con, chris? There's a lot of spicy art and things like that.
Speaker 2:Oh, and then all the fabric that has swear words on it yeah. And unicorns that were, I guess, doing sign language of a message.
Speaker 3:It's pretty funny. Okay, last question. Okay, final question. What is the Mandalorian's real name? Okay, final question. What is the Mandalorian's real name? Greef Cargo, creed Bratton, din Djarin, ahsoka Tana, oh, ahsoka Tana. Whoops, I spelled that wrong. Hey, most people got it Din Djarin. I do like the one person who picked Creed Bratton, so shout out to you that is a character from the Office, creed Bratton. Okay, all right. In third place we have Heather version two, an improved Heather. In second place, we've got Chetsy's mom. Oh no, did Chris win this one? Chris is back on top everybody. Okay, okay, chris won. Chris won Kahoot again. Okay, all right, thank you everybody for playing.
Speaker 2:I really love winning, but thank you everybody for playing.
Speaker 3:Yes, we love when everybody plays. I particularly love it when we play and Chris loses. But but anyways, you're really. Did you know how? Did you know that Darth Vader had two kids? Chris, like you didn't, you didn't watch star Wars when you were little, did you?
Speaker 2:Are you kidding?
Speaker 3:You did.
Speaker 2:We went to the theater. We watched them in the theater. Oh man, and then the whole Luke and Leia thing, where they were.
Speaker 3:Okay.
Speaker 2:And then my brother's sister, kind of Jason, that's. Everybody would get that.
Speaker 3:Okay, okay, very.
Speaker 2:That wasn't a hard question.
Speaker 3:Good yeah, good job. So we're at the time Try harder next time, Jason. Yeah, chris and I are going to share a couple little stories of the week about Bunsen and Beaker. Then we're going to go to Scarlett for a little mini interview about what Scarlett does and then we'll open up the floor to the community to share their stories about their pets. So, chris, do you want to start with the big news about Bunsen, to keep everybody updated?
Speaker 2:Sure.
Speaker 3:Okay.
Speaker 2:So we came back from comic-con on sunday. Everything was fine, um, and then sunday evening bunsen got up and he was limping really, really badly no, not sunday.
Speaker 3:It wasn't sunday, it was monday it was monday.
Speaker 2:I lied yeah. Would you like to tell the story, jason?
Speaker 3:No, no, no, no, monday it was Go ahead.
Speaker 2:Okay, everything was great, everything was awesome. We came back from Comic-Con and sometimes, after a long car rides, bunsen gets a bit stiff. We've noticed this. This seems to be a recurring trend and so on Monday we thought nothing of it. And then he got up and he was limping Monday evening when we got home from work and it was really kind of bad, like more so than just a typical. He's having some trouble, he's a bit stiff. It just seemed a little bit more than that. But it could have just been that Bunsen is a bit of a diva. He has played us before where he just fakes an injury. It's true, he is an injury faker. And then so we thought, well, we're just going to keep an eye on it. And then we kept an eye on it and another eye on it, and another eye on it, and then finally we said, no, we're going to take him to the vet just to be sure that nothing is going wrong.
Speaker 6:Yeah.
Speaker 2:Jason got the pleasure of taking Bunsen to the vet Usually I do, yeah, but Jason was able to go and they had a look at his foot, his leg, his right leg, and they think it might be potentially a partial tear or a full tear of the ACL.
Speaker 3:Which is a cruciate in the dog. He said that dogs don't necessarily have a acl yeah yeah, so he did the bone thing with you?
Speaker 2:did he show you the bone thing?
Speaker 3:uh, no, no, they. The one vet was that wasn't her orthopedic stuff, wasn't her specialist specialty. So she's like this is what I suspect I'm gonna get. Um, uh, what's his name? Uh, greg, no, the other, the other guy to take a look at the knee, bunsen's knee, and then then she came back and she's like, okay, well, he's pretty sure it's, it might be, he's pretty sure it's a partial tear. He's not a 100% sure if it's a full tear, because you never really know really, until you start like, do surgery, until you start to do surgery. And so what we have Bunsen on is some painkillers and some anti-inflammatories and the thing is to wait five to six days and see if there's no improvement, well then it's probably a full tear and a Bunsen will require surgery for repair. But it could heal on its own. The vet said lots of dogs with rest, it just it goes away, and that would be because it's a partial tear and after rest it heals. So we're hopeful it's a partial tear, but we're ready to. You know we're good to go to support him if he does need surgery, because we're ready to. You know we're good to go to support him if he does need surgery, because we want him to be not in pain and limping around.
Speaker 3:And, um, I did some research on it and a lot of people have been giving me helpful advice on on the comments about you know their dogs have gone through it. It's a fairly common injury in dogs Not like every dog gets it, but it's fairly common. So, yeah, so that's the news about Bunsen not the greatest news, but he doesn't look like he's in pain, right, chris? Like he's not, he's not crying, he's and and he's actually moving really good today. So maybe it's the pain meds and the anti-inflammatory or maybe it's getting better. So that's the Bunsen update. Do we have any more big updates, chris?
Speaker 2:He was running around and we're like Bunsen, don't run around because Rafi and Polly came over today. Yeah, and that was very exciting for the dog Speaker was like crying with her excitement, like really excited to see the kids, and Bunsen was like what Perfect, let's just, uh, run around, let's do chase and we're like don't run. And he's like I'm gonna run, I can run no, and so we're trying to settle him and it was just a bit of a gong show shenanigans happening but they love the kids yeah yeah and I guess the last couple days it's been.
Speaker 3:it's been kind of sad to leave Bunsen at home on walks. We've been able to take Beaker and Beaker's a great dog but we do miss having Bunsen on walks. But Beaker does love going on walks because she gets to swim in the giant pond the beaver has made which Chris has backed up a ton right Like we're seeing the whole backing up of the creek area now.
Speaker 2:Yes, we are. So when we went around the bend we were like whoa, what is all this water? And the beaver Norbert is doing his job.
Speaker 3:Yeah, there's ducks moving in down there too, so that's kind of cool. I think there's a family of ducks that have moved in just because, like when beavers do that, they change, they change the entire uh, you know, ecosystem we've had ducks before we have had ducks before, yeah oh my goodness so we have jamie.
Speaker 3:Jamie, one of of Jamie's dogs, is attacking water, and then we've got Kuno and Chesney on live right now. Okay, so we'll keep our stories rather short. I think we can go now to our guests, our main guest today, and that's Scarlett Rockwood. So, scarlett, again, would you mind introducing yourself to everybody, to people on audio and people on live video?
Speaker 4:Hey, I'm Scarlett Rockwood. I'm the owner and founder of First Social, which is a marketing agency for pet industry businesses, and I work with local shelters to help get more social visibility for their adoptable pets.
Speaker 3:So that's my main question for you, and folks can connect with you if they're wanting to know more, a little bit about the business end of what you do. But we talked like I was on your podcast and we were talking about how you use social media to get dogs adopted, and could you tell us a little bit about what that is and how you do that?
Speaker 4:Yeah, absolutely so. A lot of shelters the first thing that you see they come in. They do like their intake photos, which sometimes they do a decent job at, but most of the time it's like the photo they could snap in two seconds, either in the lobby of the animal shelter or in the back of the truck before they even get inside.
Speaker 4:And it's not the most flattering. It doesn't show the animal's personality at all. So those um, only like the most adoptable pets are going to, you know, get out through those photos or through someone coming to visit the shelter. And the ones who end up staying there longer, they need a little bit more. I mean marketing for the dog themselves, right? So what I do is with my local shelter and I advocate anyone who wants to do this as well is I'll go and I will take the dog that has been there the longest.
Speaker 4:Luckily, our local shelter is no kill, so sometimes that could be a year or more that they've been there in the shelter and I'll take them out for the day, take them, you know, to the park, the pet store, to get a pup cup at Starbucks, whatever. I can think of that, I think will, you know, make their day great and give them a little bit of a de-stressor, and that in and of itself is just really great, you know, for the animal's mental health, and what you do by getting them out of that environment is it allows them to de-stress, it allows them to show their personality more, and I just take tons of photos and videos the whole day that I'm doing that, and then I will put them together and I'll create reels. I'll create, you know, photo packages. Sometimes I'm lucky enough to line up my schedule with my photographer and even get some like a professional photo shoot with them, but then I'll just send all of that back to the shelter for them to post as well, and I also put it up on all of my social media channels and you'd be amazed how much of a difference it makes.
Speaker 4:Telling the story of you know, this is what our day together was like. These are the things he did great with. Like he really loved meeting other dogs or he was shy of other dogs. You know he really loved going to the store or he really loved playing in the water at the park. All those details help people get a picture of you know this being my dog and picturing what that would be like to adopt that pet. So, having all of that together, every pet that I have taken out for a doggy date has been adopted within like a month or two after I did that.
Speaker 3:Oh, my goodness, what a good, what a cool, what a cool thing. And, of course, like, do you, do you use like trending audio on Instagram to make some of those reels pop?
Speaker 4:I do for some of them, especially if there's like a really nice short clip that just happens to really suit it. But what I like to do more is just use my voiceover to tell the story of the pet's personality and of just what we did that day. Of the pet's personality and of just what we did that day. You know, I kind of like to think of it as like if I'm sitting and having coffee with one of my girlfriends and I'm talking about, you know, the first date with a new guy, how would I talk about it? Like I would talk about all the things that he did, right, all the things I was worried about, and I kind of talked the same way about the dog, you know.
Speaker 4:Oh, he was really great walking on a leash, especially considering he's been in the shelter for a year, so I'm sure he has no leash training, um, but he still did an excellent job, um, he couldn't relax in the car ride though. So if you don't want a pit bull in your lap, you should probably have a good carrier or harness for car rides, that kind of thing, yeah, um, and it really gives people the opportunity to think about if this particular specific dog is a good fit for their family, right, and I think that makes, and just the act of making video on social, you know, I think we've all gotten the information drilled into us enough by now that, like, video is going to reach more people than photos at this point with all the algorithms, yeah. So just getting that out at all more people seeing that the pet is available has made a big difference.
Speaker 3:I love that. Kelly, who's watching on Twitter video, says that's great. She just wanted to know are the dogs sad when you bring them back to the shelter at the end of the day, or do you feel like they just had a good day and they're very tired?
Speaker 4:Usually it's the second, at least for the part that I see when I dropped them off, I've never had a pet act like they were anxious to go back in the building or anything like that.
Speaker 3:Okay.
Speaker 4:For them. Like I said, I take the dogs who've been there the longest, so as far as they're concerned, is home right now um and a lot of them are just, you know, happy to be worn out. And it also gives them the knowledge that, like, going out might be more than just going to the vet to get their rabies shot.
Speaker 4:Like because that's about the only other time they're taken out of the shelter is when they need to go to the vet to update their vaccines or if they're sick yeah um, so doing that, it also encourages more people to do it as well, because the leash and the harness that I use when I take them out is bright yellow and it has adopt me written all over it. So I get to talk to a lot of people about what I'm doing that day and they don't assume that it's my dog. So more people come to the shelter to do more doggy dates because they now know that program exists.
Speaker 3:Oh, that's such a good idea. Do more doggy dates, because they now know that program exists.
Speaker 4:Oh, that's such a good idea. And then there was one dog that I didn't even have to post on social media because someone I met that day went and adopted him the next day.
Speaker 3:People see you videotaping the dog and and they see the adopt me and they're like, oh, they get, they know what you're doing, right, they get it right away.
Speaker 4:Yeah, exactly, and this was actually an employee at the pet store that I like to take them to and, like all three or four of the employees that were on staff that day, just stop what they were doing. When we came to the door and just gave him all the love and one of them decided to take him home, oh, that's so great.
Speaker 3:Madison, who's watching on Facebook, says that is so awesome. Clap, heart, heart, heart pause, yeah.
Speaker 4:So I mean just the act of being able to take them out at all is great, but I would definitely advocate for taking the extra time to take all the photos and videos that you can and make sure that you put them out on all the channels you have access to, but also share them with the shelter, because a lot of the admins or volunteers who work on, you know, the shelter social media pages don't necessarily have time to get the content together, but if you give it to them, then they will post it there for the people who are already following the shelter and looking for adoptable animals as well.
Speaker 3:You know, like this reminds me of oh, it was a while pre-COVID I think a shelter sorted all of the dogs into the different Hogwarts houses and that was extremely popular, went viral on social media. So, like the use of social media for good, like, especially with adopting these dogs, is such a with adoption. You know, sometimes that is not told to people who are adopting everything single time.
Speaker 4:Yeah, I think that's very important because that avoids the issue of people who are adopting a dog and then not feeling like it fits into their family the way they thought it would and then bringing it back because it's just not the best environment for the dog or vice versa.
Speaker 4:And a lot of that comes from overselling from the shelters and I understand why that's tempting to do.
Speaker 4:But you know, one of the pieces of advice that I give a lot of shelters is when you do make that initial post or you put it on their web, put it up on your website that the pet is adoptable, you know.
Speaker 4:Don't just say you know, you know this is a pit bull female who is heartworm negative and probably two years old, and leave it at that. Like, tell a pet story, talk about their personality, talk about you know everything you can that you know about them. You know from the few days that they've been there already and that will make a big difference. But a lot of them they try to sugarcoat the dog's personality when it's not something they think is super adoptable, like if a dog is food aggressive, they might say you know, I'm really greedy with my snacks and I'm like those are not the same things you need to be really clear so that someone you know, who is bringing that pet into a home with a toddler, is not going to call, you know, have a serious accident because they didn't know the situation that they were stepping into.
Speaker 4:Yeah, and instead that dog can find the right home with somebody who's prepared, you know, to help them with that issue.
Speaker 3:Right, yeah, that's the difference between life and death for the dog and an impossible extreme injury with a little person. Yeah, sarah on Twitter, who's listening on audio, says that she's a social media volunteer for Lost Dog Rescue and we definitely get a lot of our content from Foster's volunteers and alums. So, sarah, thank you for that great work.
Speaker 4:Yeah, and Sarah and anyone else listening. If you do work with a shelter or rescue any animal nonprofit and you'd like help with your social media, I do have a group coaching membership that is for pet businesses. That's usually $97 a month, but for any rescue or nonprofit I give it absolutely free. So if you want to reach out to me, I can give you the link to do that?
Speaker 3:Awesome, scarlett. Where can people like connect with you? Like, this is all very, very interesting. People are going to be watching this replay and we're going to turn this into a podcast episodes and they're on on live right now. Like where where can people get ahold of you?
Speaker 4:So my name, Scarlet Rockwood, is the easiest way to find me pretty much everywhere.
Speaker 6:So it's.
Speaker 4:Scarlet with a K and then R-O-C-K-W-O-O-D. So scarletrockwoodcom is my website, and then all of my social media channels are at Scarlet Rockwood.
Speaker 3:Okay, scarletrockwoodcom, you know what I'm going to do right now. Just one second, check this out, scarlet rockwoodcom. Okay, is that right, scarlet rockwoodcom.
Speaker 4:That is correct.
Speaker 3:Okay, so there you can get it. You can connect with Scarlet through through that, If that, if that's something that you're interested in. But then also, of course, you mentioned you do coaching with pet businesses and such.
Speaker 4:Yeah, absolutely. If you happen to be a pet business owner, feel free to reach out. I'd be happy to chat with you about any questions that you have, and if you work with a rescue, then I offer that coaching and membership absolutely free.
Speaker 3:Okay, scarlett, thank you for coming by for this little mini interview. This was super heartwarming, and I hope people go check out your website and maybe reach out if that's something that they're interested in. Feel free to stick around for the whole show, though, and pipe in whenever you want.
Speaker 4:Absolutely. Thank you so much for having me on.
Speaker 3:Yeah, I love. It Okay, Chris, how's things going on your end there?
Speaker 2:Bunsen's a little bit. You know Bunsen-y doing his Bunsen thing. But, scarlett, did you talk about having your own pets?
Speaker 4:I have one bunny and he very much owns the house. We actually tried to get him a bunny brother and he made it very clear he wants to be an only child. So his name is Prince Houdini, bunny Rabbit Rockwood that was my husband's doing to. His name is Dean. But yeah, he is very much for the four pounds that he has. He has a lot of personality and he runs the house.
Speaker 3:Sounds like a little cat, we know, chris.
Speaker 2:Speaking of is ginger with you.
Speaker 3:Nope, she hasn't smashed her way into the podcast room yet maybe she's in the garage no, she's probably sleeping. Oh okay, should we move to community sharing?
Speaker 3:uh, yes, we sure should yeah, we had a late start because of massive technical difficulties, uh, but we love folks to share stories about their pets or ask questions, um, of either us, uh, chris and I, or we've got our guest scarlet today. We have a couple speakers on we. Oh, we got lots of speakers now coming up on audio and we have, uh, two live guests right now on x video, twitter video and facebook video. So I think we'll we'll go back and forth, if that's okay. We'll do an audio guest, then we'll do a video guest. The herd was up here first, so we'll go to teen with the herd.
Speaker 7:Hello, hello.
Speaker 7:Hi You're a rock star. You don't know me. I'm a special needs rescue and sanctuary and I have never had an animal returned. I do a lot of amputations here and they're usually have adoption pledges before they're medically cleared to go. It's because I tell the story and people get to really know these animals. They know right away they're getting special needs with me, but the personality has to shine through and I encourage my shelter to do that. I foster for a rescue, I do all their medical cases and I gave them a social media class which includes everything you discussed. Keep up the good work. In Herd News it's Star Wars Day. It's James Earl Jones's birthday. We knew he was between two and three, so I did a Twitter poll and everybody yeah, how could we not do this? Happy birthday, yay. Shameless plug to any Star Wars dog fans out there. We're doing a little gift basket giveaway in honor of James' birthday and you're more than welcome to. There's no cost or anything like that.
Speaker 3:And that's on your feed team.
Speaker 7:It's on my feed. I put it out this morning.
Speaker 3:Okay, I'm just going to go sneaking through and maybe find it and put it up in the nest for you.
Speaker 2:I already did, Jason.
Speaker 3:Oh, Chris, you are amazing.
Speaker 7:Perfect. Thank you, chris. Yesterday was a big day. It was Specially abled animals day and that's everybody in my house, but I kept the focus on the para pups. Earl was in his wheelchair, james Earl was in his wheelchair. Kiefer is a hard no to that. So, um, he had some of the other specialty gear called a drag bag and little Barry. He was just being Barry. Both ends going at the same time but different directions. It was really cool. If I can, you know we're not supposed to get super excited about the stats and likes and brag and everything, but we got a mention from Twitter in the. They've changed up the for you things where you get a little paragraph.
Speaker 5:Yeah.
Speaker 7:Yeah, so it was specially abled pets day. The herd house and so-and-so are celebrating.
Speaker 8:I love that.
Speaker 7:So that was pretty cool. What is it? Grok the AI guy.
Speaker 3:Yeah, the AI, the Grok, yeah, it does. Yeah, the Grok knows who we are, yeah.
Speaker 7:I thought that was fun. Next up in herd news, we had some ups and downs. We had three excellent wellness visits and we had two that were not so excellent. Barry has just about every birth defect out there and we're learning more every day. He now has a cataract, which it's not painful yet. We have to watch and see what happens to it. Or if the other eye starts to go bad too Long term, we are going to have to do something surgical. We just don't know which procedure yet, but it doesn't bother him at all. Um, the good news, benedict Cumberbatch. We found out what's going on with him. It's his kidneys. We're doing some adjusting of medications. Nothing to panic about.
Speaker 3:Good.
Speaker 7:Um, the hot off the press news is yesterday my team at Alpine Animal Hospital did two amputations on kittens one four weeks old, one five months old and they both came home to my house this afternoon. Oh, my goodness, and they will. I'm going to fall in love with both of them because they're going to be here for a while, but they are going to be adoptable when they are medically cleared and emotionally ready to move on to a new family. Otherwise, I have such a full house right now.
Speaker 3:Yes, you have a very busy life and full house, yes, and busy life and full house.
Speaker 7:Yes, and busy life. Next weekend I am going to meet Joey and Samson and the rest of the family.
Speaker 3:Oh, my goodness.
Speaker 7:I'm taking Earl in his wheelchair. We're going out to the Tombstone Days. So, everybody check out Samson's page.
Speaker 2:We will.
Speaker 7:I'll, of course, be Twitter overload with pictures and and videos and I'll try and do some live tweeting. I'm super excited about that because I was introduced to Joey and Samson from your very first end of the year science podcast. We were on the same episode to do your end of the year wrap and that's how I found out about Joey similar interests and I just love her to death. And it's really cool to see that you know the changing of the guard for a service dog.
Speaker 3:Yeah Well, teen, thank you so much for the update and we all, we all are in your corner and we're all cheering you on also with the great work you do with your, your differently abled pets. And best wishes this week.
Speaker 7:All right, thank you much.
Speaker 3:All right, thanks, team.
Speaker 7:Okay, Take care everybody.
Speaker 3:Okay, take care. Okay, so we'll go to video. Jamie, do you want an update? Or, yeah, jamie wants an update. Okay, go, jamie.
Speaker 6:Sorry, it's a little bit noisy here. It's a sunny Sunday morning. It's like 25 degrees. Sorry, chris, you know you can come and visit. We do have a spare room upstairs queen size bed. Lots of dogs, lots of sunshine.
Speaker 3:Sounds like the perfect vacation for Chris. Lots of sunshine.
Speaker 6:Sounds like the perfect vacation for Chris. So I went for my run this morning and Rosie's dad, Chopper, who is a brown kelpie, was out of his enclosure and out on the street. So I roused on him Chopper, go back. And that's my dogs barking at their own dad who's doing the mowing Anyway. So Chopper was out on the street and I roused on him. I said Chopper, go back inside. And he went grrr at me and I said Chopper, go back inside. I'll call the boss. And he grrrred at me again. I rang his boss, his owner, she's like Wayne chopper's outside. I was like bloody dog, climbed the fence again and so what? I was like 50 meters from their house, so it's not like he was far away from home or anything like this. And so Wayne just whistled from in bed because it was like six in the morning.
Speaker 3:Wayne whistled. He was in bed. He was in bed.
Speaker 6:Oh, the boss is out, I'd best go back. And he bolted back to his yard.
Speaker 3:He's like oh no.
Speaker 6:Oh, the boss knows.
Speaker 3:I love that.
Speaker 6:So but yes, Rosie was on video just before doing her water obsession.
Speaker 3:TK was wondering if there was something in the pond. I was kind of like watching the comments.
Speaker 6:No, no there's nothing in the pond. That pond is simply there as water for wildlife. Lots of bees come and use the water, but also lots of frogs and toads use the water. So it gets a bit manky and I was just cleaning out the manky. Okay, and Rose likes to help. She is the helpy-kelpy. Okay, and Rose likes to help. She is the helpy kelpy and I'll put up a video in a moment of her helping with the sweeping.
Speaker 3:Oh.
Speaker 6:I'm sure it's super helpful. Yeah yeah, one day she'll get it right.
Speaker 3:Yeah, beaker is very helpful at digging. I'll tell you right now she is so helpful at digging.
Speaker 6:Rosie's sister, billy, is very helpful with digging and raking yeah, in a very similar fashion to Rosie's sweeping. But there's Rose and River, yeah, river, turn around. Stop showing your bum, there's River. So, River of Doom.
Speaker 3:Sweetie.
Speaker 6:He's a ratbag dog and too reactive for his own good, but he works here and Rosie back over here having a lie down. And Rosie back over here having a lie down.
Speaker 3:Jenna's upstairs, not paying any attention to to social media this morning. I love their colors.
Speaker 9:Well, jamie, thanks for the update. I so appreciate it.
Speaker 3:Thank you feel free to stick around and chime in whenever you want yeah, until I have to go do the yard work that's right until you have to go do the yard work.
Speaker 6:Madison just said so cute you got a lot of uh laughing.
Speaker 3:Thank you, madison you got a lot of laughy emojis also on uh twitter spaces. Okay, back to twitter. Back to twitter spaces in the order of people that came up. We'll go to tracy hi, tracy, hi guys, hi um.
Speaker 5:So now I'm gonna start with ricky. He's still eating. He's like um, waking me up and like earlier for food. So that's a good thing, you know, because he he's like I want food even earlier than you're going to wake up and then sleeping by me, being a snuggle monster. I did have a customer say that they had a cancer and they lived like five years. So if he wants to live another five years and be happy and healthy, then that's good. Yeah, you know I'll take it.
Speaker 3:Yeah.
Speaker 5:But you know, even just now I take it. But you know, even just now I'm, like you know, just happy that he's still here and getting all the wet food he wants, for as long as he'll take it we're happy too, tracy thank you, and then the hold on.
Speaker 5:Let's see the one dog I was telling you guys about, indy. He's still in remission from his cancer and I think his visits are like every two months now. So that was just a little update on that other golden retriever that I was following. He's like four years old, so good news, then. Awesome on that other golden retriever that I was following. Okay, he was like four years old, so Good news then. Yeah.
Speaker 3:Awesome.
Speaker 5:But that's everything for me. Just a little short thing today.
Speaker 3:Thanks, tracy, take care.
Speaker 2:You too.
Speaker 3:Okay, back to video. Marla, did you want to give us an update or are you just happy showing off kuno and chesney? I can give you a quick update, okay I'm gonna go to solo layout for you, so go ahead we are in martinsville, saskatchewan, tonight you're in saskatchewan. What are you doing in saskatchewan? We had obedience trials.
Speaker 1:Oh, oh how did it go well. It was not our best weekend, actually I I I can't complain. Chesney earned her excellent rally title this weekend, which was, which was great and it's just. It was a really tough venue. Um, it's in their local hockey room. Accessibility was a bit of an issue. But the other issue is the dogs have never been in a spot where spectators were up high before oh, because they're normally on the same floor, right yes.
Speaker 1:So poor chesney went to do a down and on her way down she came in eye contact with this child sitting in the first row eating cookies, and it became the world's slowest down. So it was a lot that sounds like a a lot.
Speaker 1:It was a very busy venue. Normally we have the obedience dogs on one side and the confirmation dogs on another. In this case we had a confirmation ring on one side of us and the other obedience ring on the other side, so at any given point there would be 10 dogs running in a circle with owners making a lot of noise. And it was a lot, but it's again, it wasn't our best showing because we're not used to that. You can only train for so much. Yeah, but I also put her into the regular CKOC obedience and she did quite well yesterday. Today she did really well Now in CKOC, ckc obedience, first you do a healing pattern on leash and then you do an on leash healing pattern in a figure eight around two people.
Speaker 1:And then you do an off leash healing pattern. You do a recall and a stand for exam where the dog has to stay standing and the judge comes and pats them down. But then they do a group sit. So they bring back six to eight dogs and everybody lines up. You take the leashes off, you put the leash behind you, you put your number behind you, you leave your dogs for 60 seconds for the sit, you return to the dog, then you put them in a down and you leave them for three minutes.
Speaker 3:Oh, my goodness minutes.
Speaker 1:Oh my goodness, I really. Well, until on the down, when I got back to her, when she stood up, went picked up the numbers and the leash and brought them back to me. Oh, she's just being helpful she's doing what she's supposed to do. That is her job in regular life yeah but not appropriate in the ring. So we've never ran into this before, so we'll have to work on that, but I mean it was cutest thing ever Very adorable Marla.
Speaker 1:So, yeah, we're coming home tomorrow, but you know what you do in Martinsville, saskatchewan, for a good time on a Saturday night.
Speaker 3:I was well, I grew up in rural Alberta, um I can tell you, I grew up in rural Alberta, um I can tell you. It usually involves wobbly pops.
Speaker 1:Oh no, I was going to say you just log on to Twitter and join pet chat.
Speaker 3:Oh, we could do both at the same time. We could. I'm just teasing. I'm just teasing.
Speaker 1:There's a dairy queen next door to the hotel, so I think I'm taking the dogs for ice cream tonight. Oh, man but they're pretty tuckered out. It's been a long couple days, a long drive home is that kuno or chesney on the bed?
Speaker 3:sorry, I'm just gonna zoom in. That is that's kuno. He looks exhausted he is.
Speaker 1:There's a lot of noise, a lot of people and he's. He was happy to get back to the hotel. He he's feeling his age a little bit.
Speaker 3:Yeah, bunsen sleeps hard too.
Speaker 1:Yeah, exactly, whereas the other one no. She'll want to go for like a two hour walk and play hotel fetch and all that kind of stuff. So, but we're good and we'll be home tomorrow.
Speaker 3:Awesome, marla. Thank you so much for the update and again, we love following you. It was a very busy day for us so I haven't looked at your social media stuff yet today, so I haven't even posted anything yet maybe from yesterday. Um, yeah, the last couple days have been pretty crazy for chris and I, but yeah, we'll. We'll catch up there. Thanks, marla. Okay, back over to audio.
Speaker 9:Uh, paula, hello paula hi everyone, how's everybody doing? Good hi, paula hi, hi hi, and sorry for all your technical difficulties. It almost sounded like you had a way too many few beers there, jason. It was kind of like you were drunk. It was pretty funny.
Speaker 3:Well, I have a new phone. I'm just holding it up for the live people and it was Bluetooth because you can have, my Rodecaster has Bluetooth and it was, it was making a speaker.
Speaker 9:So whenever I said it was reverberating through this like backup okay, it was a whole thing, but it was pretty funny because it almost sounded like and it would come in and then it would repeat again. It was like yeah it was wild but anyway. But hey, I'm glad you figured it out. Good for you, tech talk, but anyway. Um, we have a crazy week and happy may may. May the fourth be with you. This is a big day in our house and it was our Trixie's gotcha day.
Speaker 3:Oh well, congratulations.
Speaker 9:Thanks. One year ago we got that crazy little pup and I put a little cute little video of us getting her and I can't believe how time flies. You know we look at the puppy pictures and you look at now and you're like, wow, know, it's a. It's amazing to see how little she was and all the crazy things that she did. So and if anybody doesn't know Trixie, she's my Brussels Griffon um and we got her last year and we had a drive to Virginia because the breeder was in Tennessee but we met halfway and it was quite an adventure, to say the least.
Speaker 9:And this week also was Trixie's first day of going to Dairy Queen and getting a pup cup, so I put that on video. It came with a little bone inside like a milk phone treat and it was so cute and they put the little bit of vanilla soft serve in it and her eyes went as big as quarters. She's like is that for me? And I'm like, yeah, and she, her eyes went as big as quarter. She's like is that for me? And I'm like, yeah, and I mean that dog. I had to use the bone as a spoon because she was slugging that stuff down like no tomorrow. And everybody was laughing because we thought we she'd get a brain freeze or something. But she, she fared out okay. She, she got a little sticky, but other than that she, uh, she loved it and it was fun because it was the first time she's ever really had a little bit of ice cream like that. So it was, it was a fun week. So that's our stories.
Speaker 9:We had some fun times this week okay, we'll have to have to check out those videos um later tonight yeah, you'll laugh, because especially the one with the ice cream, because she just she just couldn't stop licking and going for it, you know. And and then it was funny when she was all done. She was licking, you know, I don't know if you ever go to soft serve places, but sometimes they have kind of a well in the bottom of the cup. That's kind of like it, like it looks like a bowl, and then it has like a deeper bottom and she was like she just didn't care, she just stuck her whole snout in there and licked the bottom and you could see it through the plastic. And it was kind of funny because her tongue was going a mile a minute and we were. It was fun and happy to know that uh, ricky's doing better.
Speaker 9:Um, I am glad to hear all the news about that too. So, um, I hope he's uh hanging in there. I don't know if tracy's still on, but um, I'm glad to hear that. You know things are going better for her. You know this this month, so good, yeah all right good, everybody absolutely oh yeah, it's may the 4th.
Speaker 3:I look what I brought. I brought that into the room, chris. Oh, it's my dark saber.
Speaker 2:We did a charity event today. We did we dressed up as the Mandalorian. I went as Bo-Katan, jason went as the Mandalorian and actually Adam didn't work today. So he said hey, do you want to? What was your IG-11? And he said yes, and so we all went together to take pictures at a charity event, a fundraiser for a leadership group, a school leadership group. They're going to California.
Speaker 3:Yeah, yeah, they a teacher reached out me and they're like hey, would you mind coming to take photos with people?
Speaker 4:And oh, Scarlett's got a lightsaber too.
Speaker 3:Oh, Scarlett's got a lightsaber too.
Speaker 4:I think this one's green. I'm not able to get it to come on right now and I'm not going to fiddle, because if it breaks it was not my fault. I'm seeing all the great footage of Marla, because she's still live in her hotel room, and it's reminding me how excited I am because I get to go to Canada. In a couple of weeks too. I'm going to be doing the connect pet expo in Niagara falls, and I I'm so excited because I'm down here in Georgia, so for me, I probably get to see snow for the first time in about 20 years.
Speaker 4:Oh, I don't know if any, I don't think there'll be any snow in Niagara falls when you go you never know.
Speaker 3:Okay, you never know. It did snow.
Speaker 2:It did snow for three days last week for us in Alberta, in Alberta you'll get to see the Canadian side of Niagara Falls, which is the beautiful side oh yeah, is that what?
Speaker 4:they say once on the New York side, but I haven't been to the Canadian side before, so I'm excited about that too. Um, I'm going with um as part of a panel for the pet industry network. Um, and uh, lynn Switnowski, who's another member of it, is going to be taking us all the day we land on like uh, uh, here's my Canada tour and she's going to be showing us the falls and everything. It's going to be really fun.
Speaker 3:Make sure you stop at Tim Hortons and you get a double, double and a sour cream glazed donut.
Speaker 4:Yeah, I'm pretty sure that Tim Hortons is already the first stop on the trip.
Speaker 3:That's my donut the sour cream glazed donut. That's my favorite, chris, what's your favorite? Honey crueler.
Speaker 2:Honey crueler is pretty good.
Speaker 3:Tim Hortons honey crueler is pretty good, so speaking.
Speaker 2:Jamie's a Sith Lord.
Speaker 3:Oh.
Speaker 2:Jamie's got a Darth Vader mask I love it and a red lightsaber.
Speaker 3:Yeah, that's them Sith colors.
Speaker 2:Yeah.
Speaker 3:Them some Sith colors.
Speaker 2:Like Slytherin.
Speaker 3:I guess yes, Sith Slytherin.
Speaker 4:But Slytherin is green.
Speaker 3:They are, I know but, they're evil. They're not really evil, they're ambitious.
Speaker 2:Oh cutthroat.
Speaker 3:Okay, we got another speaker over on audio. It looks like our last one, and that is Rich Baden. Hi Rich, hi guys, how are you doing? We're good, hopefully you're doing well.
Speaker 8:Yeah, I have a certain amount of sympathy for Bunsen getting stiff driving in a car too long. I sort of resemble that remark. Old age is so much fun. A couple of things All the May. The 4th stuff I think I paid to see Star Wars, starting in 1977, 10 times the first run. Love that movie. It was just absolutely so amazing and different to anything else that was floating around out there. Yeah, paid to see it a lot of times.
Speaker 3:That is amazing to be alive at the time when that came out rich Like I've heard. I hear stories about people talking about it, how it was like it blew everybody away, that it was just like so incredible. Um, I'm just trying to think of a movie that I felt that way about in my lifetime, like maybe the first Jurassic park. I was kind of like I was a teenager at the time and it blew me away a bit, I don't know.
Speaker 8:Um, back in the day as well, there was another movie, close encounters of the third kind, yeah which was all came out either right before or right after it's a few years ago. My memory isn't what it used to be, um, but again, the special effects and all that were just phenomenal, yeah, and it sort of brought everything to a whole new level and the storyline was kind of cool too, yeah. So, um, you were talking about whippets.
Speaker 8:The other geez must have been two weeks ago now uh, last week, yeah, we did a thread on whippets, yeah yeah, there's a couple of whippets that show up at the dog parks that Goofball and I go to and they love or at least the two that I know of, seem to love getting other dogs to chase them. Oh yeah, and they're going full out and the other dogs are losing ground every minute oh, you can't there's.
Speaker 3:I think they're. They're so fast, aren't they?
Speaker 8:oh, and agile, yeah, very agile, yeah. Um, now baden being not as dumb as he looks, which is a good thing. Oh, kuno, hello kuno. Sorry, I've got you up on Facebook so I can see Kuno.
Speaker 3:You're watching the live, talking on the audio. Lots of people do that. You're not alone. We hear that. Lots of people do that.
Speaker 8:Well, because Kuno and Chesney always come up and I love those dogs so much and it's so cool and the work that Marla's done with them and her advocacy for disabled people is just absolutely phenomenal. Anyway, back to the Whippet and speaking of service dogs, man, I wish I was closer to Tombstone because that sounds like it would be a hell of a lot of fun with Samson, Pax, Benatar and the Muppets and all that, but anyway. So, Baden, when the whippets are tearing around, he will figure out. You know they'll be going around, uh, bushes or everything like that. He will figure out where they're going to come out. He's not going to waste energy chasing after them.
Speaker 3:He's going to wait and lie and wait and pounce that's smart that's, that's that's how bunsen gets um the little kids, is he? He triangulates where they're gonna go and he just outsmarts them. He, there's no way he can catch them. He's just like well, I'm just gonna use my brain yeah and uh.
Speaker 8:My other whippet story is one of the dog parks has these shrubby, bushy things which I'm not really sure what they are. Anyway, so this whippet is going warp speed and there's this other smaller dog behind it and whippets are incredibly agile. Yeah, so it zigged around, this bush and the small dog chasing it didn't make the turn. Oh no, oh no. Oh. There was this god-awful thump and this very, very confused-looking dog going. What the hell was that? And I swear he moved that bush a foot he hit so hard. Oh man, so that's my Whippet and uh being chased, or they are. They are a nice dog, they're very, but their speed, but their agility and their ability to make a tight turn is really quite phenomenal yeah, they're greyhounds, whippets, uh, border collies.
Speaker 3:They're all like incredibly fast but also can turn on a dime. Yeah, that's just their, I think it's their. They have a floating shoulder shoulder blade. I think I covered it with border collies once. Oh, okay, yeah, they don't have. Their shoulder blades aren't connected like ours. They kind of float so they can like like they can move sideways almost as fast as they can move forward.
Speaker 3:So I vaguely remember that, but I didn't realize there'd be a test and one more question for you, rich, as a fellow canadian, but out on the east coast I vaguely remember that, but I didn't realize there'd be a test. And one more question for you, rich, as a fellow Canadian, but out on the East. Coast Tim Horton's Donut. What's your favorite?
Speaker 8:Just for Scarlett who's coming up to Canada. It varies, believe it or not. I like the old-fashioned playing a fair bit. Okay, I like the Boston cream, but it gets all scruggled up on my mustache and it gets all sticky. And the chocolate dip's good, they're all good.
Speaker 3:There you go, Scarlett. They're all good.
Speaker 2:Well, I think they get one of each then.
Speaker 5:Yeah.
Speaker 2:I think they still have long johns in nova scotia do they?
Speaker 3:do they have long johns still in nova scotia rich?
Speaker 2:what's a long john?
Speaker 3:when we were there like it's a long skinny donut. Like it looks like a hot dog. It's like as about as long as a hot dog, but it's flat that sounds like an eclair to me and they, it is, it's an eclair, but they're called the long johns.
Speaker 2:Oh, it's canadian, or maybe it's.
Speaker 3:Maybe it's a yeah anyway, they have one.
Speaker 8:Have them at niagara falls and update you okay, we'd love that and and some of us don't do double double, I just, I just do a regular yeah, I'm apparently I'm sweet enough yeah, double, double is pretty sweet.
Speaker 3:That's two cream, two sugar regulars, one and one. That's pretty good.
Speaker 2:Yeah, one and one is pretty good, but you'll also have to go and get a beaver tail from the beaver tails.
Speaker 3:You'll have to do that is there one in niagara falls um, probably, probably it's touristy.
Speaker 2:Niagara Falls.
Speaker 8:Probably, probably it's touristy, yeah, and if you're on the East Coast I'd recommend Donair. But spicy hamburger lamb wrapped in a pita bread with a really sweet sauce there's nothing like it after too many wobbly pops everything about that, but the spicy part sounds wonderful I am I am very much basic female, like I don't do anything spicy, and there's probably more milk in my coffee than coffee well, you might want to be americano. There you go.
Speaker 4:Double, double might be more like a quadruple, quadruple.
Speaker 3:Yeah, just don't ask for, just don't ask for a Wayne Gretzky. They don't do those. That's ninety nine creams, ninety nine sugars, because he was number ninety nine as a hockey player.
Speaker 4:OK, that might not be good for the diabetes. No, that that would cause the diabetes.
Speaker 3:Yeah, all that would cause the diabetes.
Speaker 8:Yeah, I'm just trying to think what cool stuff is at Niagara Falls.
Speaker 1:I've never been, I've never been that far east in my life.
Speaker 3:There's wineries, wineries.
Speaker 1:Okay, yes, you can find good wine Sounds good.
Speaker 4:I'll try to keep that in mind. I don't know, I'm only going to be there like we're flying. I'm flying in on a tuesday and leaving on a thursday, so I don't know if I can get some wine back into the us.
Speaker 3:maybe that'll have to be another trip yeah, it's like when we went to dallas, uh, all of our amazing american friends were suggesting things for us to do in the dallas area and we had like one day we're like we only have one day between the us to do in the Dallas area, and we had like one day we're like we only have one day between the day we arrived in the when the eclipse happened. So, all right, rich thanks for the update. So appreciate you stopping by.
Speaker 8:Thank you Good sir. Okay, Stay out of trouble, but it takes all the fun out of the Saturday night.
Speaker 3:Should we do a couple little of our product stuff, Chris?
Speaker 2:Yeah, a hundred percent, we. Should.
Speaker 3:So, if you're on live, I've got something here Ready. This is this is we've we've sent out how we've sent out a whole schwack of these already. So we did a presale for rolling bone, which is our fake magazine, which is a spoof of Rolling Stone, and it is so adorable. Take a look at it. On live, look at it, it's so cute. There's the band Beaker Bunsen, Ginger and Norbert on drums, thanks to our amazing cartoonist Sam, and we're going to probably be sending the rest of the orders up next week. Remember I did mention that the guitar pick that company was delayed a bit and I don't know if Tina is here. I just want to show you a real quick of the back. You got one of these, but I just want to show a real quick. You don't get to see it for very long. Oh, something's about the herd. Something's about the herd in the magazine. So, yeah, it's pretty, it's a, it's a really fun read. It's full color. Um, the pre-sale pre-sale is going to last until next weekend and then we're shutting the pre-sale down.
Speaker 2:Um each show, the kuno and chesney show the kuno show. Kuno and chesney okay, they're in there too they are marla, are you looking?
Speaker 1:of course I am okay, ready oh my god, that is so them, isn't it?
Speaker 3:I'm not showing anymore. Marla, we can send you one. Uh, just, marla, we can send you one. Just send me your address, we'll send you one. Yeah, so the pre-sale lasts till next weekend and every magazine comes with two of our songs Vultures of Parliament, a tattoo and a sticker. And of course, there's bigger bundles with T-shirts, and the biggest bundle is the super fan pack with a bunch of really good goodies. The t-shirts have already gone out and folks have got them. Um, and there's, the t-shirts are adorable. Like I don't know, paula, if you're still here, but you got your, uh, vultures of parliament t-shirt yes, I did, yes, I did, and I wear it.
Speaker 9:and people are what is that? And I'm like you gotta hear my story. So I tell them. It gets a lot of notice, so hopefully you'll get some notoriety about Vultures of Parliament. My husband still wants to know how in heck you ever got that name. It was random. Didn't you do a random name thing or something?
Speaker 3:Yeah, I went. It was a text from Bunsen joke. It was a throwaway joke and I was like man, I need a name. Beaker's bunsen joke. It was a throwaway joke and I was like man, I need a name. Beakers got a band I I can't think of a name of a band and I went on the internet. I just went to random band generatorcom and then you can select different genres and I was like glam rock, 80s, um, pop, and it spit out vultures of parliament. I'm like that is perfect because we're Canadian, our government is a parliament system and it was just so. It was so what's such a weird vultures? Like it's anyways.
Speaker 9:It was a win-win all the way. I think it's great, and he was laughing about it because I told him it was a random thing. But it is it's perfect. It was the perfect name it was meant to be.
Speaker 3:It is it's perfect, it was a perfect name. It was meant to be. Yeah, well, thank you, rich your hand was up.
Speaker 8:Did you have a question? No, but watching the Facebook live feed. When you said Chesney and Kuno, did it ever? The auto captions puked.
Speaker 3:Oh, couldn't do their names, christy, were you gonna?
Speaker 2:talk. I'm so sorry, did I cut you off? Yeah, I was just gonna say the magazine is full color, um, it's high quality, um, and we put a lot of work into it to, uh, to make it heartfelt and um, really hilarious. Actually, there's some parts, there's articles in there that it's like, yeah, they do read this magazine for the articles yeah, uh, chris vetoed a bunch of my articles everybody, or the titles of them.
Speaker 3:She said that's not appropriate so I had to change a whole bunch like two or three titles. Um, so anyways, well, maybe let you.
Speaker 2:You can't talk about like the bully stick, like it's penis. Come on those. Just. You just can't, you gotta leave it to people's imagination I know those things are nasty, jason, and it is.
Speaker 9:They are so nasty like bully sticks is not the right word for them, because they should be not to be abrupt, but they should be like dick sticks, because that's what they are really, because that's what they are.
Speaker 3:Anyways, there's a, there's, there's a little. I don't want to spoil it for people, but it's in, it's in rolling bone, one of the articles. So, anyways, if you can check our website, I'll put our website up if you're watching live. Um, bunsen burner, bmdcom, um, so just a kind of recap of today as we go through. So ours, we have our sponsor, barkin beyond supplycom. They will be giving a 20 gift certificate. We're going to do a draw for that right away. Um, if you use the code bunsen, you save 15.
Speaker 3:We had our guest today, scarlett Rockwood. You can get a hold of her if you want some help with the, you know, marketing for a pet business or linking up with what she does with shelters for dogs. And then, of course, check out our own website for the presale of Rolling Bone. It's not really a presale anymore because we're sending them out now. It's more like a sale, sale, but the bundles and stuff are going to go away and I got a very limited run of that magazine. So when it sells out, it sells out.
Speaker 3:So, okay, should we do the draw for Barking Beyond? Chris, you are not on screen anymore. I'm talking to the ceiling, ceiling, okay. So, uh, we'll do the draw if you are watching on live. If you're watching on live, drop a little comment, because I don't know if you're here. Okay, so madison did, and then I'll count the the people that are here in space is 25, perfect, so drop. Uh, oh, jamie's back. Hi, jamie, you're back, okay, okay, uh, so we've got a couple people commenting, so please comment if you're on live, because I all I have is numbers. Over 1 000 people are watching right now, but, um, not everybody has the ability to comment. Okay, perfect, looks like we got about 30 people.
Speaker 3:Chris oh, that's awesome yeah, so again, there's way more people watching live, but not everybody on like x video can comment. Uh, because you have to be verified. Oh, elon musk had a great idea the other day that everybody basically told him to go away on. Did you hear about that idea?
Speaker 3:you have to be verified to comment on people's posts oh you can post your own content, but you can only comment if you're verified and everybody's like no, that is a dumb idea. So I don't think that's being implemented. Okay, one, two, three. Oh my goodness, it's two, it's two, what?
Speaker 2:me.
Speaker 3:No, it's rich, rich is the second. We can't win the prize um the second person from us. It goes me, you, you Paula, then Rich, so the second Rich you won today. Congratulations, rich. You can contact BarkinBeyondSupplycom for your prize.
Speaker 8:Oh cool.
Speaker 3:Thank you yeah.
Speaker 8:Congratulations. It's not the lottery win I was hoping for, but I'll take it.
Speaker 3:No, yeah, and I can do a thing. What you know I should do on live is I can actually share the screen Right, so people can see I'm not like. I don't know why I would decide to not to lie about what I'm rolling. But there we go. It's a two, okay, so I think we're going to start to wrap up. Do you have anything else to mention, chris, aside from any, I guess? Whatever.
Speaker 2:Go else to mention chris, aside from any, I guess. Whatever, go ahead, what, what? That was a bad we do. We do have a scientist on tuesday. Yes, for side chat.
Speaker 3:Yeah, we have a nasa scientist on tuesday for science chat. Um, she works in the climate change area of nasa, but she's a. She's a engineer that specifically works with carbon capture and, uh, it's. That's a fascinating area of climate change mitigation. It's a way to take carbon out of the air instead of like, uh, that's what she focuses on. Obviously it's. It'd be great if we moved away from carbon producing everything. Uh, we're getting there, but in the meantime, maybe we can suck some of the carbon out of the air. So that's going to be our guest on tuesday this week side chat. Okay, that's about it.
Speaker 3:Wrap up music yeah okay, thank you everybody for coming to pet chat. You could be anywhere in the world, but you're here listening. Special thanks to scarlet, our special guest today. Speaker 4:I think StreamYard is one of those where the more people that stay on, the faster it uploads, or better quality, or something like that. Is that how you guys have it set up too? I'm just happy to stick around for a few minutes if that's helpful.
