Speaker 2:

Hello pet enthusiasts. My name is Jason Zekowski. I'm the dog dad of Bunsen Beaker, the science dogs on social media.

Speaker 3:

My co-hostest with the most is Chris Zekowski and I'm the dog mom to Bunsen Beaker and the cat mom to Ginger.

Speaker 2:

Every week on Saturday, we do a live show called Pet Chat, so if you're listening to the recording, welcome. Chris and I share some stories about Bunsen, beaker, ginger or other pets and then we open up the floor to our community to share their stories. We're multi-casting right now to Twitter spaces or X spaces or whatever they're going to call it now, and also to our paid community, the Paw Pack. Chris, we're back again. We were back last week, but I think I'm a little less rusty today.

Speaker 3:

I think you are always so fantastic at how you run the space.

Speaker 2:

It is time for us to share our stories before we get to the community. Do you want to go first or do you want me to go first?

Speaker 3:

Jason, you can go first.

Speaker 2:

So exciting news. I've been going back and forth with the Emmaton Comic Con. As you may or may not know, our family is kind of nerdy and for a hobby I build replica costumes and I think it was about two years ago I was actually a cosplay guest at the Calgary Expo. It was a lot of fun. My favorite thing is just to walk around and interact with kids because I do put a ton of time into my costumes and they look like I just stepped off the screen, especially my Mandalorian costume. So I love interacting with the kids and I built a little mic into the helmet so I sound like Pedro Pascal when I talk. Anyways, the Emmaton Comic Con contacted me and they wanted brainstorm with me because they really like Chris and I and I guess we're well known in the cosplay community or like people recognize our costumes, which is cool, but also they love Bunsen and Beaker.

Speaker 2:

So we went back and forth on a way to get Bunsen and Beaker to the Emmaton Comic Con because they wanted to have them as special guests. It took a bit. They had to wait for special permits to have non-therapy dogs or service dogs in the Expo because they're not, and they got approval. So on Sunday, bunsen and Beaker are Comic Con guests. It's Sunday is their family day. It's also Pokemon day. So we're really excited to take Bunsen and Beaker in the morning and they're going to be. There's a red carpet, I guess. I guess, chris, they're going to have a red carpet that Bunsen and Beaker are going to walk down and they're just there to interact with people and have people take pictures with them. So I mean, they're not border collies that are doing wild tricks, but we have some costumes for them for Pokemon day, which are going to be adorable, and I'm really excited about that.

Speaker 3:

We have a bit of a costume fail.

Speaker 2:

Okay, you want to talk about that.

Speaker 3:

Well, I purchased a very cute Pokemon costume on through Amazon and it arrived and it's supposed to be double extra L. Nope, it barely fits on Beaker's armpit.

Speaker 2:

I think it's like double extra L if you have tiny dogs.

Speaker 3:

I think it does fit tiny dogs.

Speaker 2:

Yes, it would fit dog it was double extra.

Speaker 3:

not for us, does not fit.

Speaker 2:

Yeah.

Speaker 3:

So back to the drawing board. Another costume is coming.

Speaker 2:

Yes, bunsen's Ash costume, which is the main character of Pokemon, fits perfectly, and I just have to modify the Pokemon trainer hat so it fits, like with Velcro under his chin. He's a very good boy, he wears hats, no problem. So, yeah, anyways, we're really excited about that. The cool thing is that the dogs do really well with the public and Bunsen loves to pose, so he's going to be a posing guy and then Beaker will pose for a little bit and then she likes to work the crowd, so we're excited about that. Well, that's my share, chris. Back to you.

Speaker 3:

Well, it's back to work and so I am not spending time with the dogs all day, every day, and they have been a little bit clingy in the evening, more so than usual. Bunsen usually does have his toddler time where he's like rub me, pet me. I'm needing my tummy rubs, but now they're both jumping on the couch and sitting with me there.

Speaker 2:

They were glommed on to you last night Like it was bananas.

Speaker 3:

Well, I very much enjoy it because I love our dogs and they're just such good. Bunsen is such a good boy and Beaker is such a good girl, and that's my story. Do we want to share that we don't have any footage of the beaver cam yet?

Speaker 2:

No, so sadly. I bought a really nice trail cam and I put it down in the creek and we've been up and down in the creek multiple times and we've positioned it multiple different angles to try and capture the beavers as they work and it's picked up nothing.

Speaker 3:

So I think like we're putting in the wrong, we're putting it in a spot, and then they're like, haha, there's the camera. So we're going to go work over here because they're still working and they're like Pardon because they're still working.

Speaker 2:

They're still doing, are still working, they're still doing evidence.

Speaker 3:

Yeah, there is evidence of downed trees, but it's just oh, the camera's here, so we're not going to work over here. Oh, the camera moved. Well, now we're gonna go work on this. It's like we're a day behind what they're doing. I know they're Doing no because we don't know anything about beavers.

Speaker 2:

No, we don't know what they're doing. They're still working. They've mudded up the sides of the creek even more like it is like the whole sides of the creeks have been Like beaver cemented. It is very weird that they get the mud and they mix it with rocks and then they pat it Along the sides of the creek to make it I don't know like an aqueduct. And they're working Further from both sides, away from them the first lodge. So the whole creek to the big main dam is all like beaver cemented now, and Maybe they got bored, so now they're working the other way, but they're still an incredible amount of water down there, like they should be dry, but it's so deep it's. It's absolutely bananas, these beavers. They are pretty good engineers, though. I have to give them credit a hundred percent.

Speaker 3:

They're very good beavers and engineers.

Speaker 2:

That's that. That's true. I wanted to just mention a couple more things before we get going. So, if you are new to pet chat, we we share some stories about Bunsen and beaker at the start of the show and then we open up the floor to the community. And again, the people that we open up the floor to the community are folks that we know and, as as sometimes it gets really busy, try to keep your story or your questions short. Okay, chris, should we invite some folks up to speak? Looks like you're doing so.

Speaker 3:

I already have. You're already clicked. Yes, alistair will be first followed by Holly, which is also Sasha.

Speaker 2:

Okay, perfect, so go ahead Alistair. Yeah.

Speaker 4:

Cuz. Also, you're talking about call what you were talking about different types of dogs and everything. And my dog is well, it's like very smart. Judging by the videos, he's pretty smart, but he's very horrible with other dogs. He's a rescue dog, mm-hmm. Is there any way to Help him deal with that sort of situation? Because I don't know what the dogs went through, but any dog that comes near him he wants to attack it.

Speaker 2:

I think I think what I can say is probably what everybody else will say is I'm not like Chris and I aren't dog trainers, but but generally, if you, if you check on, if you check online, you can, you can have dogs around other dogs that are maybe reactive, and you start really far away and you do this game called look at the dog, look at me, and it's a way to help regulate the dogs emotions, I mean as in like you get a dog to point at the dog and then you need to tell the dog to then come back to you.

Speaker 4:

Yeah, not good.

Speaker 2:

Yeah, not even come back to you, hold them very close so you have your hand on their collar, I believe yeah, I mean yeah, and then you get they make eye contact with the dog and then you say, no, look at me. And when they look at you, you give them a treat and then you basically reward them for regulating their emotions so they don't get upset. Yeah, yeah, I would start. I would start really really far away. And again, that's what dog trainers have said on our show and that's what dog trainers have said, like on the science podcast, as a guest work for dogs that are maybe not getting along with other dogs.

Speaker 4:

Chris, pretty good thing.

Speaker 2:

Yeah, chris, do you have anything else? Again, we're not dog trainers and you can always check with the respected dog trainer in your area 100%.

Speaker 3:

Look at that, look at me is really good, but you also have to be very proactive and watching the dog's body language and sometimes you might have to Hold both of your hands on the collar and have the dog looking at you and then moving physically away From the other dog. We've heard that as well, although we aren't dog trainers. It's just it's more about training us as the, as the handler, because the dog Looks, looks to us For guidance. But, yeah, look at that, look at me works really well. Just being proactive and and always alert, like not on your phone. Some people will be walking their dog on their phone or trying to multitask and that's not fair To the dog because we should have our full attention on them.

Speaker 4:

Yeah well, I've had that happen to me a the reason I was asking about the whole dog trainers. I took my dog out for a walk. I had the dog on a tight leash and someone that only used a whistle to actually Try and get their dog back to them, and their dog Sprinted up towards my dog. I shouted to the woman and said what can you Get your dog back? And done nothing. Dogs, plenty of right open in my dog's face, in my dog, nipped it in the face.

Speaker 2:

I think in that case it's not your fault. Alster, you should always have control of your dogs and they should always be on the leash. So that's is, if you have a dog that's a bit reactive or is reactive and you're doing what you should do, then that's not your fault. If another dog Charges up to your dog and and I just feel bad that that happened, because you were doing the right thing If you can go to a place where people do have their dogs on leads, as Chris said, you can do that. To look at me, look at that game.

Speaker 4:

Yeah.

Speaker 3:

And moving to the other side of the street Can help as well, but that wouldn't have helped if the dog was off, off leash and not listening to the owner.

Speaker 4:

Yeah, especially that whole West whole thing that's. That's really silly to me.

Speaker 2:

Well, alster, I hope that helped. I think we're gonna move to another speaker. We've got quite a few and I'll mute myself. Yeah, you bet, and there there's been a couple suggestions in the chat, so you can kind of look through there. Okay, chris, who's our next speaker?

Speaker 3:

I'm moving to Sasha, the burner doodle, also known as Holly.

Speaker 5:

Hi Chris, hi Jason, hello, hello, it's good to have you back. I missed you last weekend because I was down in Washington State showing my car at a car show. But my stories today involved getting to meet Twitter dogs. I have gotten to meet two Twitter dogs in the last week and a half. It has just been amazing.

Speaker 5:

So when I was on my way to Tacoma, washington, with my car, a Town called Port Ludlow was on the way, and Port Ludlow is where snorey lives. She's the you know, the dog that does the pup letters, and so I stopped and got to meet her and, oh my god, I've never met a dog so full of love in my life. I mean, it was. Let me give you a hug, let me sit next to you so you can keep petting me. I had a hard time even getting a picture of her because she just wanted to snuggle. I mean, she's just so incredibly sweet. I also, thanks to snorey's mom, found the best little tiny coffee shop I think I've ever been to in my life in Port Ludlow. It was so good that on the way home on Sunday I stopped in again. And then today, sasha and I just got back, about half an hour ago from Duncan BC, which is about 45 minutes north of Victoria.

Speaker 2:

Yep, we know where Duncan is.

Speaker 5:

Yep. So we went and met Jocelyn Anderson and her dog, max, and took a really nice like couple-hour hike and and Sasha and Max just totally hit it off. We were joking that they both are. They're both socially stunted in the same ways, so it worked out well, but we just had a wonderful time and made some new friends and I just I was thinking about this in the in less than 12 months I have managed to meet in real life three Twitter dogs, plus, obviously, I met Benson and Bowie's parents, so they count as number four, and I can't wait to go to Ottawa so I can actually meet Benson and Bowie. But it's just been wonderful getting to meet all these dog Twitter folks. It's, you know, something about having a dog. Just I don't know, it makes you a really special person.

Speaker 2:

That is very cool.

Speaker 5:

So, yeah, that's all I wanted to share this week, just getting to meet some new, as I like to call them, friends. So, and I am also really excited for you guys for Edmonton Comic Con. It makes me wish I lived in Edmonton.

Speaker 2:

Yeah, there will be an official post from the Edmonton Comic Con on Monday, and I heard behind the scenes that they're trying to get some of the voice actors from Pokemon to come meet Bunsen and Beaker, so we'll see if that happens, ok amazing.

Speaker 3:

No, should we talk about the gift that came in the mail this week, Jason?

Speaker 2:

I think, yeah, so we'll do a couple of little sharings of our own and we'll get to the next two speakers. Yeah, go ahead, chris, you do that. And then I just want to talk briefly about something. Yeah, go ahead.

Speaker 3:

Thank you so much, lisa, also known as Benny and Bowie. Benson and Bowie for the towel. There was this beautiful red towel that fits Beaker perfectly and it's embroidered with Beaker's name on it, and so that's perfect for when she gets out of the dock diving pool after swimming. It's got a little little red hood, so we can call her little red diving hood because she loves to jump in the water and swim. I don't want to use it for when she comes out of the creek because that's gross water. So but thank you so much. It was a total surprise to me. I think, jason, you knew something was coming.

Speaker 2:

I did, but it didn't come on the day it was supposed to come and then I forgot about it because we got so busy with back to school.

Speaker 3:

Oh, ok. And then it arrived and I thought it might have been the Pokemon outfits that I ordered, but it wasn't. I said this is different, this is awesome, this is amazing. And then we put it on her right away and she was like oh, I like it.

Speaker 2:

Yeah, she really liked wearing it. I think because she likes wearing a hood like wearing hats aren't her favorite, but she she doesn't mind wearing a hood. So I'll put a little photo of her in the chat wearing her adorable red riding hood towel thing. Ok, a couple of things I just wanted to mention is you'll see us posting over the next week about the twenty twenty four Bunsen and Beaker calendar. We have it right now on pre-sale and there's a really like we worked really hard on the calendar and the pop pack help vote on the photos. So you'll see us advertise that a little bit and I just wanted to touch on that.

Speaker 2:

I think I threw it up into the nest so you can take a look. It has a couple really cool things. Like every calendar comes with this special pen that we designed that's a highlighter pen and there are a couple really secret, awesome optional add-ons that go with it that might you might say wow, that's cool. Anyways, all of this is the pre-order and once the pre-order is over, that bundle, all this bundle, is not a thing anymore. So if you're, if you do want to support us by getting the calendar, now's the time because it will be the cheapest price, with the best shipping, with the most awesome bundle stuff you could get. So I thought I would just do a plug for the calendar and then, lastly, I put up a cool thing from Barking Beyond up in the nest and you can take a look at that. Ok, all right, should we go to Richard and then Tracy will go to Richard?

Speaker 3:

Yeah, 100 percent.

Speaker 6:

Hi everybody. I, after 10 months exposure of being around me this little dog Adele, she's starting to catch onto my vocabulary and the words that I use and what they mean, and it's really interesting to watch her respond. But the thing is I'm having more trouble understanding her vocalizations than she did having to understand mine and she'll get to carry it on. Just carry on a conversation with me. I wish I knew what she was trying to say, but I know what she wants, but. But it's a funny thing watching her carry it on. And the other thing is with, with your new pond that you're having built, I imagine you'll probably get to be about eight or nine feet deep and where they're laying the rocks along the sides of the bank, that'll probably be their underwater travel points so they don't stir up as much blood when they're swimming in that pond. Smart.

Speaker 2:

I like, chris. How big do you think that waterway will be when runoff happens? It'll be, it's going to be a lake. I could be eight or nine feet deep. Richard, you're 100 percent correct, it's already. How deep do you think it is in the middle, chris, like in feet? Then I'm not sure.

Speaker 3:

I think we'll have to take like a walking stick down and measure. That way it's way over beaker's head. Yeah, that would be the most effective way to see how deep it actually is. Yeah, but it's also changing the waterway down. From when we walked down the hill and she went full bore and splashed, jumped in and splashed in where it typically would not have any water at this time and I said whoa, and she was soaked. So they're definitely changing the waterway system here on the farm.

Speaker 2:

Go ahead, Richard.

Speaker 6:

You ought to take while you got the chance and drive about a 10 foot depth stake in right along the edge of the bank. The water gets deeper. As the dam gets bigger, you'll know how deep it is or the water started at.

Speaker 2:

That's a good idea. I got a piece of rebar Richard. I don't think it's 10 feet deep, but it's as taller than me, like probably seven feet, so I can take that down there and hammer it into the side. That's a great idea.

Speaker 4:

Hmm.

Speaker 2:

I think we're going to have a lake down there and spring runoff. Well, we'll see. We'll see. Okay, we'll go to Tracy next. Hi guys, hi Tracy, I hope you guys are doing good, um, so I don't know.

Speaker 8:

Not much going on here. Um, my dad is visiting though, uh and uh, you got to see Ricky a couple days ago, on Wednesday, so they got some time to hang out. And then, uh, it's my birthday tomorrow, monday. Uh, so I took off and I'll be off until Thursday. So Ricky and I will get plenty of cat time, and hopefully he's not jumping on the counter the whole time, but I'll find out.

Speaker 2:

Well, happy birthday coming up.

Speaker 1:

Happy birthday.

Speaker 2:

And I believe, like Kathy also, kathy, one of our friends, also had a birthday. Um, that's why she was Kathy 76. So happy birthday to all the birthday folks out there.

Speaker 4:

It's your birthday, so we wish all the very best to you.

Speaker 2:

Happy birthday. So did Ricky get you a cake, Tracy.

Speaker 8:

Um no, but maybe he won't jump on the counter that day. Maybe that's just present to me.

Speaker 2:

It's the little things that count, right? Okay, we'll go to Baden's last rich.

Speaker 9:

Hi guys, how's everything? Hello, hello, we're good. Hopefully you're well. I am well In the middle of nowhere, nova Scotia, so my connections kind of cruddy. First thing I don't know if you're aware of, but your Beavers are probably going to help protect against wildfire damages. There was, I Read on the internet, so I know it's true. Somebody using Satellite imagery, before and after forest fires noticed a whole whack of green spaces where everything else have been burnt around them and upon further investigation, the green spaces All correlated to where there were beaver lodges and dams. So that's kind of cool.

Speaker 2:

Okay, I think I forget the exact statistics, but when we had the beaver scientist on that's, one of the things that she mentioned was like a single family of beavers, or whatever a group of beavers is called they. They literally can protect an entire forest from wildfire, to a certain degree, obviously.

Speaker 9:

Yeah, I just it's a wild. Oh, I think it's so cool. And the other thing that I Like to mention is that there I'm sure some you might have seen the tweets but there's two service dog accounts that I follow Cuno, the service riding, I think he's at service Roddy, maybe mm-hmm. And Samson who's I Can't remember him, but I've learned so much about what's required for accommodation and for Disabled people and not so much, and they're really both cool accounts and I Encourage everybody to follow them. And Cuno and his protege, a Chesney, are. Not only are they amazing well, chesney's a service dog and training but not only are they amazing service stuff, but they're also participating in Trial obedience trials and they are both doing so well and it's just so cool to follow, follow them and see how it's see Chesney's growth and also see Cuno's growth, because he's going further and further and further Up the obedience trial reward system. I just think it's so cool.

Speaker 2:

Those are great counts and thank you for highlighting them. Yeah, I, chris, and I have just nothing but respect and admiration for both of the mums. Of those two, there's Marla is Cuno and Chesney's mom right, chris. And and then Joey ramp is Samson's mom, and they have faced like serious adversity in their life and they just they've been able to Find something to share their journey with us all and we've all learned and we've all been made better for it. So I agree 100%.

Speaker 3:

Yeah, marla's in Saskatoon with the dogs and it's just so amazing. We've had Marla and Joey on our show before, so that those shows are definitely you can find those on the podcast Episodes if you want to hear more about them. But definitely give them a follow at service Roddy's and At Samson the service dog I Think it's at Samson and he's just so cute and Chesney, she is so gushy. I just love her.

Speaker 2:

We we met Chesney and Cuno, but Chris, chris is obsessed with Chesney.

Speaker 3:

Well, 100%, and I just oh, I could just squeeze her cheeks, she's just like a marshmallow. She's so good and just so, so smart, smart as a whip and in really good health, really good shape. I Can't, just I there's. I have no words about how awesome she is. So, but Marla also runs an account. Anything's possible PAWS, sybil. Anything is possible, so I didn't know that. Yes are.

Speaker 2:

We is Bunsen and beaker following them.

Speaker 3:

I'm following her.

Speaker 2:

Okay, we're gonna follow that right now.

Speaker 3:

And she talks more about like that's how she communicates accessibility in Edmonton specifically and getting noticed from the government officials who can, I Guess, legislate or make a difference for people who Access those services and make Edmonton more accessible for all.

Speaker 9:

Yep, they. It's a really cool account. I'm slightly closer to our place. Bayton's having a great weekend. We're camping in a Private campground that has tons of kids, including two little girls next door who have to keep coming over and giving them scratches and ear rubs and everything else, and he's just having a ball last for love it.

Speaker 2:

Such a happy guy oh.

Speaker 9:

Oh, everybody should be, everybody should have a Labrador. So they know just how to take absolute joy in the moment and not worry about what's gonna happen in five minutes from now. Love it, take care, guys.

Speaker 2:

Thank you. Thank you, chris. I feel terrible. I skipped Paula, so I think we need to go to her next.

Speaker 3:

I know, I texted you, I know.

Speaker 2:

I feel so bad, paula Hello.

Speaker 7:

Hi, no worries, it's okay.

Speaker 2:

How are you, paula?

Speaker 7:

I'm fine, thank you. How's everybody tonight?

Speaker 2:

We're good, busy good.

Speaker 7:

Yeah, busy, busy I. I am so jelly, you guys going to Comic-Con and Edmonton. If I was closer I would be there in a gunshot and I would be here probably faster than a gunshot. Oh man, if it was like in October I probably would have made plans. But anyway. But I hope some lucky duck wins that ticket because they're in for a treat.

Speaker 7:

Someday I'll get to see you guys, I'm sure, so Happening. But before I start my pet story I just want to say a special happy birthday to Kathy and Dr Liz and me and Tracy and Well, kelly and we had a bunch of birthdays next week, so we gotta, it's gonna be a great week. But anyway, my pet story is a. Trixie started puppy school and we kind of felt like Mr you know, bunsen, because Trixie at home is very outgoing, she plays a lot and but she's not too socialized. So when we went into puppy school she was like digging in my side as I was carrying her in and she sat on the little thing with her little towel and she, her ears went down and she just looked like a big, sad sack and she.

Speaker 7:

She didn't want to come out and everybody was doing all their stuff and it was. It was pretty bad and but we were, you know, we were trying to say you know, everything was gonna be okay. I did tweet about. I forgot how to do this in the nest. Here is a community. Is that the way?

Speaker 2:

share it with no, you go, you press the share arrow of a post and then you can it should say pet chat where you can put it to.

Speaker 7:

Okay, and she just I mean, that picture looks calm, but she was she. At one point we had a big giant Labridoodle on my husband's Left and it was the next dog over and it was hysterical because we're unfolding chairs and all of a sudden Chixie just kind of leans back and kind of looks sideways like she couldn't believe this big dog was sitting next to her. And then everybody else was like on the floor doing all their new sits and downs and everything and she wouldn't do it, she. She only did it on top of this little stand. But then at the end she did manage. We were supposed to like walk over this little box and have her front paws on and then her back paws on, and she kind of half got it and then she was supposed to sit with her paws on the box, but it was supposed to be, you know, like with her. I don't know if it was what it was, but she put her front paws in the box and she sat down and as the instructor was walking by, so it was like perfect timing. It was really cute and we we also had another cute little puppy near and you would have loved it.

Speaker 7:

It was a greater Swiss mountain dog and he was 12 weeks old and, oh yeah, he was a cutie patootie and I had tweeted him too. He was. He just remind me so much of a smooth bunsen. You know, they're just, they're a little more athletic and I they're a little bit more like sporty than I think the Bernice Mountain dogs, but they're, they're beautiful. She has two of them so, but this little guy was 12 weeks old. Then it's gonna be interesting to see what the next few weeks are, but I'll keep you posted. But she did pretty good. We were. But you know, this little dog that seems so happy and go lucky had her tail between her legs, literally and was like Was it working?

Speaker 7:

No, she's like no, I'm not doing it. I don't care if you got bacon in that pocket, I want to go home. It was kind of a rough go, but anyway, well, good luck to everybody you know on the contest. And, jason, you guys are rolling ahead. I'm so proud of you, you, you're more deserving than anybody, I know. I just love you guys, you know that. So I Can't wait to see the costumes and everything that you do. So thank you, thank you, thank you.

Speaker 2:

Thanks, paula. I didn't, I didn't mention that, but I don't think of many people from Emmett and follow us, chris, but we have the Emmett and Expo Gave us. I think there's two tickets. There's some free Friday passes that they are going to reward to somebody who Interacts with some of our posts about it.

Speaker 3:

So, yeah, if you're from Emmett and or you're, we want to go, you can, you might, you could win a Friday, a free Friday pass, and and that's right, yeah and if they're, and if there's not very many people following us from Emmett in and there are some people Following from Emmett in in this chat then their chances of winning are that much higher.

Speaker 2:

Yeah, I know Jean Carlo Esposito is gonna be at the Emmett and Comic Con, chris.

Speaker 3:

We've seen him before. He's amazing.

Speaker 2:

He is. He is a very cool guy in public, super friendly. So Jean Carlo Esposito, for those of you, or maybe like, hmm, I don't know who that guy is. He was a Gus Fring in Breaking Bad and most Recently was one of the bad guys in the Mandalorian. He was the oh man, it's just escaping my brain Moff Gideon. He was Moff Gideon, one of the bad guys.

Speaker 9:

No spoilers. I haven't watched it all yet.

Speaker 2:

Oh well, he's a bad guy. I don't think I can say anything more than that. Also, carl Weathers is gonna be there, who also is in the Mandalorian, but he was like a big action star back in the day. He was super friendly. We met him and Calgary, I think and he wouldn't stop talk. Was it you or Duncan or Adam? He was talking to one of us. He just kept talking and then they told it we, they moved us along. So he's a chatty guy.

Speaker 8:

He's a chatty guy.

Speaker 2:

Speaker 1:

You got it right Okay hi everyone you know the one thing I love about this chat is that all the different accents you hear on your chat as opposed to other chats, it's really awesome, so that that speaks to your worldwide reach. I don't really have a pet story. I wish and everybody a happy birthday, but coming in hot at the end of this month is Cali's got today and she's getting her AARP card Because she's turning a senior kitty, so I don't know what's up with her lately. I think she's happy I'm. I'm home for a second because at 3 30 in the morning, 4 o'clock is Turned into. I'm gonna wake up, mom, and stare at her until she rolls over and faces me. And it's been a Nightmare of her literally standing on the pillow screaming at me to roll over. She hasn't done that before. This is something new, so I was hoping she's okay. But I really don't have a pet story.

Speaker 1:

I just wanted to laugh with you guys about the beavers. I thought I saw a post the other day and it made me think of y'all and it says you know you're in Canada dealing with Canadian beavers when there's hockey sticks that have been built into the dam. So somebody posted a picture of beavers grabbing oh, hello, pup, of grabbing Hockey sticks and putting them in their dams. So that cracked me up because that did scream. I thought that was pretty funny. I'm. I'm waiting with Bated Brett to see the beaver cam. Thought you were gonna get banned for hashtagging that. I know, I know. I don't know what to do about that.

Speaker 2:

I was like that might be a problem.

Speaker 1:

however, like Everyone always tells you guys and you had posted about, you never let me down. Yeah, I saw a no-transcript growing your account and the Comic Con. Good things happen to good people and you guys have such warm hearts and warm spirit and you take the time out of your busy lives to spend it with us and educate us, and this is why all the good things are coming to you, because of that. So I just had to throw that out there and give you guys your just desserts, because it is deserved. And that's all I really have, other than I put something in the chat about.

Speaker 1:

I've had problems walking Sasha in the city sometimes because people have their dogs off leash or and and it's fine if they come when you call them, but it's not fine if they don't come when you call them. And we've been in like the doggie water parks where there's water features for dogs around here, and there's been little dogs that just think they're Napoleon and have to come at her, and so I started putting if I'm out in public with her, I put like a police cam body cam on her vest and that way I have video footage because you know there are times that animal control will come and say we're going to shoot your dog.

Speaker 3:

Oh gross.

Speaker 1:

Because it's aggressive, you know, and I'm like not to me, but I know it's happened in the city and so I have that as just in case, because Sasha is so sweet, she doesn't bark, she doesn't growl. The only time you'll hear her make a noise is is if the fire alarm goes off, and then she'll start howling, but she doesn't make any noise whatsoever, and usually Huskies are pretty vocal and she doesn't say a darn thing. And so when little dogs come at her, she's like whoa, whoa, whoa. She's more scared of them. Yeah, so I got the camera just for that.

Speaker 2:

It's too bad that that had to happen, that you need to do that, but that reminds us like reminds me, chris, when we were in Rosebud staying at that really cool windmill. We were walking the dogs and a little dog like came charging up to Bunsen and Beaker and the owner was like trying to scoop them up. Bunsen's fine with little dogs because he was used to Beaker like being a little terror to him. But we were more concerned about Beaker because she doesn't put up with that as much.

Speaker 3:

Yeah, she's like no, thank you. You are in my space, you are in my face. No thanks.

Speaker 2:

Yeah, okay, over to Lisa. Hi, lisa, and thank you so much for the wonderful gift, the towel for Beaker, hello, and you are very, very, very welcome as soon as she started dog diving.

Speaker 10:

it was just I thought they have to have one of those drying coats. They absolutely have to. It's a must have. So I'm so glad she likes it and I'm so relieved it fits it fits, so good.

Speaker 10:

I was looking at Bowie and I was thinking I think you might just be a tinch bigger, but we'll measure you and you should do as the model for this. No, I'm glad it fits. I'm really glad it fits. So I do have a dog story, finally that we had last week. It was last week we had Lindsay, my daughter, and her boyfriend, josh, over for dinner. So when Lindsay and Josh come over, rosie is always there. So Rosie and Benny are best buddies and Josh had kind of a surprise for us. I knew, but the dogs didn't know. And Josh has got a new puppy, ivy. So Ivy was over. Yeah, she's adorable, oh my goodness. She is an Australian shepherd border collie cross and Josh and his father are dairy farmers. So Ivy will actually be a working dog.

Speaker 10:

She's going to be taught to be a herding dog. So she's learning how to do that with her mentor, nemo, who is another border collie who is not really too interested in Ivy, but she'll learn from him. But Bowie and Ivy got along so well and it was so fantastic because they have the same amount of energy and it was just like Benson and Rosie looked at each other, gave each other a high five, jumped on the couch and said we're out for the night.

Speaker 2:

We can relax these two things. Yeah that's so cute From your picture.

Speaker 3:

She looked like a golden retriever puppy, but that's obviously not the case.

Speaker 10:

Yeah, no, I just the angle. I could not get her to sit still to get a picture. So no, she is just this white, fluffy Australian color. She's got a bit of a tan face, but she's just adorable and she's just the sweetest thing and just instinctively like she's herding the dogs in the backyard. It was quite cute to watch.

Speaker 2:

That is cute. There's one photo of yours that I made me burst out loud. It was for National Dog Day, when Rosie was coming over for dinner and Bowie, I believe, is in the back with the same beaker face, like the slightly closed, like grumpy look, and it just reminded me of like Beaker's RBF resting beaker face yeah, it is, bowie reminds me a lot of beaker and that resting face comes out.

Speaker 10:

I'm trying to use it a lot now with her deep thoughts by Bowie when those come out and it's just because she's just got this serious little face. But that's it for me. That's my dog's story for the week. Oh, and other than that, we do have a new therapy dog at work. She is Canine Cindy, so she's been given her police badge as well and she is actually a therapy dog for all of the officers. She comes in and she goes through the stations and she sees who's a little bit stressed and she just spends a little bit of time with them. So that's a new addition to the Ottawa police and we're loving her.

Speaker 2:

That's wonderful. Well, thanks for sharing and thanks for coming to PetChat.

Speaker 10:

All right, thank you.

Speaker 2:

Okay, I want to thank everybody for coming to the space tonight. Coming to PetChat on a holiday weekend for North America, thanks for showing up, to all of our speakers, who shared their stories and asked questions. We really appreciate that. It allows us to have a really interesting conversation and hear heartfelt stories. And, chris, thanks for being a great co-host.

Speaker 3:

Thanks for inviting me.

Speaker 2:

Well, you kind of had to be here. I need your help.

Speaker 8:

Yes.

Speaker 2:

So we'll have some kind of official post from the Emmaton Comic-Con on Monday. I don't know if it's going to be on Twitter, because most of the cosplayers are not on Twitter, they're on Instagram, and that's where the Emmaton Expo, emmaton Comic-Con, has a huge account, so I think they're just banking on more eyeballs there. But I'll screenshot and I'll share whatever they post on Instagram and we're going to post it on Twitter too. So I'll, just because I think they're using our media. I don't know. They have a media team that's putting something together. Isn't that wild? It is wild. The media team for you and I is us working together on Canva. That's our media team.
